Poke PWNies! 3rd and 4th, Darkrai and Cressilia

I have to give you props for making ponies look so pokemon...ish xD

Constructive crit... I don't like to give it because people always take it as rude and offensive o_O

I've had enough drama from the boards lately, so I'm gonna stay away from that.
From you? Nah.
Now, I know I could do better on D.P. With my better sculpting and painting and even hairing skills...mainly Palkia's the one i'd like CC on :p

Okies ^.^ I give you constructive criticism... for those who don't understand that... that is helpful criticism.

Ok. First, I will say that I think you did a really good job on her/him. I don't know mah pokemon ;) Anywho. The ref image looks like a robotic sort of pokemon. The pony portrays this well. I saw someone - can't remember who - but someone mentioned how the eyes were scary, and that they have cute eyes on tv. Well, your ref images show those creepy robotic eyes, so I say... they're supposed to be like that?

I think you just need to work on the sculpting - the sculpting itself is good, you know what you're doing, it's more the blending. I think I read somewhere that if you use water once you have sculpted it, it's easier to blend it down and smooth it to where it really becomes part of the pony? I think I read something like that in one of AeraCura's tutorials. The sculpting on the back hooves looks really great. It's more that the little accent things need blended better.

Painting is a little sloppy in areas. But I think that's something that you just have to repeat until you get really good at it. I'm shaky by nature, so that's something I'd really struggle on. I dunno what paintbrushes you use, but if you're not already, I hear the thin sable brushes are good for little details.

Lastly, hair. I love the tail! And the main looks fine to me too - just needs styled ^.^ Maybe straightening it somehow?

Keep in mind, I have yet to start customizing... so I might not really know what I'm talking about xD I hope this helps?

LOL No bad attitude ^.^Don't know why people interpret it as that. Just a teeny bit sad that it was up for 2 days and nobody commented ^^; Everyone seemed to like Dialga when I first rleased pics of her, and lots of comments on Cressy. :e5:

Sometimes people get more comments than others. The most important comments you already received (dialga) because he's the one that commissioned you.

I don't know much....or well anything about Pokemon, but I must say that they make cool pony customs! :)

See, I don't take that as rude or offensive. That's a great example of c.c :p And thanks. I must say sculpting the wings was the most difficult part >.<

They're pokemon...they're SUPPOSED to look scary xD
Anyway,great work!
:e1:

The way I see it.... some pokemon are supposed to look more "cute", like skitty & pichu for example, while others like for instance darkrai and groudon are supposed to be more weird and/or scary looking...

You know what I'm probably gonna say, but... OMG DARKRAI IS AWESOME!!!!!!! :D

AWESOME!!!!! Just need a new sprite pic for her though, her tippy top was cut off....

They are cool customs, I'm a fan of the non traditional customs. :smiley_emoticons_os

And you have make the transition from poke to ponies well, i like that you did a stand from Cresselia.

The sculping ideas are well designed, is not a easy task to make transsitions. :e3:

I saw you asked for CC.

I agree with blackestbird on smootining the edges where the sculp and the pony plastic unites.

For doing it there's the wet sculp metod, or you can also use it normal but for this if for example you are making a horn you need that the horn is compleatly dry before you add a little of the sculping on the base to smooth the underside of the horn with your fingers like you are spreading butter.

The other thing I notice is that some parts need more layers of paint, I use in my first layers the acrylics mixed with water this makes the pony plastic hold better the paint.

Then the other layers I reduse the water until the last layer I use the acrylic pure from the tube most of the times.

A good test to see if the paint is well added and sticked to the pony is when the paint is dry to use your nail to scratch the paint, if you got paint in your nails then it needs more layers, if nothing comes off then it has the enough layers.

This also reduce peeling by accident the paint if when the pony is done you wash it or it fell on the floor the paint is less prone to peel off.
