$150, for blind bags? Really?
I'm not an expert on prices, so y'all are free to set me straight if this is correct but.

I guess I don't understand how blind bags can go for so much! What gives?

Alas, Ebay is littered with all sorts of overly-hopeful sellers :winkpony: Not too long ago I saw a loose Mimic listed for almost $1,000. I think it's usually a case of people having no idea what their item is worth, so they just reach for the sky and hope for the best :lolpony: You will find that those unrealistic, astronomical prices rarely ever sell to anyone.

I've noticed. Sighs though, because I probably wouldn't have blinked at your Mimic spotting. ouo

We collectors seem to have to keep our wallets under control, eh?

After a certain amount of time, you get an idea of what things are worth, and it makes it very easy to spot those crazy prices. ;) If you're ever unsure, feel free to start a price check thread here (just don't link to open auctions!) to get an idea of what you should spend on any given pony or item :)

A lot of sellers hope for impulse buyers to be so stoked when they see an item that they just leap and buy before doing any research. I guess we can't blame 'em for trying to make a buck, but really. There's wishful thinking then there's Holy Mother of Crud What Are You Thinking, Seller?

$1k Mimic :/ *scoffs* I'd rather lay down in my coffin and get buried alive before I pay that much for my grail pony :rolleyespony: honestly, $1k can ABSOLUTELY go towards more important things in life ;P

I really don't even think most people have $1k to just spend on ponies. Seriously, can you name anybody that can afford $1k worth of toys?

LMAO

Also, I see that your collection is more than $1k worth, @MustBeJewel ;)

Quite a lot more than that, actually ;) There's a lot not shown, believe it or not. Then again I've been at it at least 20 years now, so.... :)

1K sounds like a lot of money on the surface, but I think we'd all be stunned to know what we've sunk into Ponies. Y'know, I bet a large portion of our collections are easily worth over $1000. When you think of 20 dollars here, 40 bucks there, 100 smackers at Toys R Us then 50 over at Target... You've gone over 1000 quickly.

Heck, just think of all those little blind bags at $3 a pop. 24 per set, $3 a Pony... That becomes serious money pretty quickly.

Exactly, even at really low prices it can add up quickly. When it's spread out over time, we don't notice as much; it's just when it's all at once that it can be rather shocking. That's what is going on with the blind bag auction. With 48 ponies in that pile, it works out to just over $3 each which is about retail; so, it's really not that far off base.

Yknow that actually makes more sense.
I've had to learn that the hard way on multiple occasions.

Thats my biggest pet peeve that blind bags are extremely overpriced on eBay right now. I have actually made it a point to list all of mine at .99-4.99 price range. All with a flat shipping rate..especially since most do not have the cards. I wish more sellers would be more realistic on eBay, its difficult enough to complete a collection why do jerks have to make it harder?

They marked them as G3 ponies..... Seems strange and hilarious at the same time...

Maybe the seller watched that episode of storage wars or whatever its called when the dude said G3's were worth almost 1K
