Hi,
I created this as a parent to a five year old who has decided to sell some excess ponies. this is because, we went to Legoland in July and going to Legoland is now primary directive for this kid- also dance class apparently. MLP being one of the toys we have a number of; kid has certain favorites but the rest are not played with at all so we've come to terms with letting some of them go to loving homes to acquire funds for Lego or any trip on an airplane for this kid.
We have a number of MLP from my childhood (these would be G1) though most of those were given to my friend @ darklys before the kid came along, a couple softies, and a lot of things given to us or purchased from G1- current.
In addition, way back in college I made a custom for @ darklys: and I am interested in doing that again because it was fun and it would be a good way to do some kind of art again that can involve the kid a bit more than painting or something. but, I don't collect, so I guess I'd want to know what folks would want, and what to use as a base?? I am not a fan of the new-est MLP bug eyed things, but I also don't want to customize something someone would want to collect. Where do you get bulk well-loved G1-G3 that are customizable?
Give me all the pointers and advice for selling and customizing and anything else! Thanks in advance and extra thanks (and love) to my dear friend for pointing me in this direction. <3

Hi and welcome to the mlptp! We have lots of customizers here. Many use the hqg1c blanks for the ease in dying and no real need to prep.

Hey there!

Welcome in and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Nice! I had no idea these existed! I used some of the more well-loved pony finds from garages sales for my previous efforts, but I've never tried dying them. thanks!

If you check out the customs forum on here there are some talented people. :)

Welcome to the herd! I don't know much about customizing so not much advice there but loads of people on here can guide you with that. Look forward to seeing ya around the corral :)

In college I was very good friends with someone who is a pony-collector, they had lots of amaaaazing customs. Which is why I made one for them way back then :D It was so fun to do! I just didn't look into any techniques and did my own thing so I'd like to see what others do before I attempt to get into it again. (p.s We are still friends now, just about a bazillion miles apart and with littles to wrangle)
