"Mystery Lots" How would I go about doing this?

I am getting tired of eBay, the time it takes, the listing fees, etc. I have 200+ ponies for sale that i'm not so sure what to do with, but I really need the $$ from them. They are accumulating really fast!!

What if I was to do some kind of mystery pony sale on the MLPTP?

Like I could have the promise of some rares in the lot, and also the promise that whatever you get will have minor flaws, to no flaws at all. (basically, near to mint condition) unless it's a rare.

How much would you suggest I charge? And should I make it a "lot" of ponies, or just sell each individually, just wrap them up and mail them out without knowing.

What would be the best way to do this? Would love some help.

I'm thinking of doing some "mystery boxes", too; what I plan on doing is asking those who want a box to PM me with a want list, includnig any baits they are looking for, and (as long as I have one!)making sure that one of the ponies in the box is one from their list.
My boxes will probably have 6 to 10 ponies in them, since lots of that size are the easiest to deal with for me; they tried doing a 'mystery bag' thing for the MLP Fair, with one pony per package, and even selling them for a month, they still had some left.
I ordered the new shoebox-sized Priority mail boxes for free through eBay, and I'm waiting to get those so I can see how many ponies fit in them before I decide on prices and stuff like that. :)
Mine will be pretty cheap, though, because the ponies I'll be using are from bait to very good condition for the most part. What I'm planning on doing, is figuring out how much I could sell each one for, then finding an average for the whole group, then X the average price by the # of ponies that will be in a box. So, if I figure the average amount I could get for them is $3 each, and there's 6 ponies in each of the boxes, then that's $18.00 per box.

well i wouldn't mind buying a mystery box myself as long as the ponies didn't have serious problems like hair cuts or alot of ink on them or significant stains.

so would you prefer to buy more than one pony?
What if I was to do like a lot of 5 ponies, how much should I charge if they are all near to mint condition?
I definitely don't want anybody to feel like they were jipped at *all*...
I also have a heaping pile of about 50 or so "good" condition ponies, and about 30 baits that I haven't even excluded in the 200+ mint ones. How would I divy them up if I wanted to sell them too?
ah....i just have NO clue how to do this

Try Strawberry Fair :)

I suggest you ask Strawberry Fair how she does her "Mystery Boxes" I've never bought one from her, but I've never heard an ill remark about them so they must be good :)
I wish you the best!

Id love to buy a mystery box but the thing that has always stopped me from doing so is the postage price (As Im in the UK). If you keep the shipping costs as low as possible, that's be a bonus. :)

i think mystery boxes are really fun ideas! of course, the price has to depend on the condition. I'm not quite sure because everyone has different ideas of good, mint, NM, so really it depends on your honest opinion. Also, rare ponies are obviously more, so each box would have to depend on condition. Another tidbit, you could seperate them by adults, babies, newborns; stuff like that. Good luck!

the only problem with mystery boxes is that many of us have only particular ponies left to go.. and it would be pretty useless to buy a box if you end up getting mostly or all ponies that you already have.

I would be interested in a mystery box, depending on the cost. I would prefer 5-6 ponies in a box instead of just singles. It sounds like fun :)

It's good to be specific on the condition of the ponies. I bought some "Mystery" ponies before and all were said to be in good and up condition, and any ponies not in that area would be given accessories to "make up" for any other flaws. Now.. The people who ran it were well-known 'n stuff, so I didn't mind.. But, when I did get them, one of the ponies backs was covered in sticky residue and had dry, brittle hair that was chopped up.. The other had stains and bad hair.. But, I did get a minty BBE. lol.. Not so happy with paying like 5$-8$ per baggie for that.. And no accessories to "make up" for the first pony. =p

That was my personal gripe and warning about "Mystery" baggies/boxes. It's both buyer and seller beware situations, IMO.. I'd still consider participating if I could, tho.. As long as I was promised no custom baits being passed off as good and up. lol.. =^o_O^=;

*bounces* Just like Strawberry Fair's boxes! I love them!

She normally put anywhere between 5-7 ponies and sometimes accessories in them, wrapped them in tissue paper, and took pictures of each box, and listed a price per box w/how many ponies and accessories came in them. They weren't super expensive - around $20-$35 depending on the value of the ponies.

I'd totally be into buying a box or two! ;) Can always use the extras as trade ponies!
