G3 It’s Finally Happened To Me… My Divine Shines Ate Their Glitter.

I don’t have any advice on how to fix this, but I’m so sorry this is happening to you! I had some Divine Shine ponies as a child as well and they were very beloved (I believe Flower Garland was actually my first pony!) Hopefully, somebody will find a way to prevent this from happening eventually. The glitter idea that Leave a Whisper suggested might work to bring back some of their shimmer for sentimental value.

I hope there is a way that is found too. At the moment, I’m just going to keep an eye on them and allow them to take their natural course. I don’t want to mess with them too much since they’re my childhood ponies and childhood ones feel much more precious than my reboot collection (ponies I began collecting later in life after a long break)

I hate to see Divine Shines lose their glitter, but it does reveal a pretty interesting process, one that we still don't have all the answers to!
I thought you guys might find this specimen interesting, which in my opinion supports the theory that exposure to sunlight may accelerate the process:

The sunfading here is super interesting. I love ponies like this that kind of show the "behind-the-scenes," if that makes sense. Kind of like prototype ponies. It forces you to think about what they're made of and how. I hope one day soon we can get the reasons behind this, and figure out a way to preserve these beautiful ponies!

This happened to all (or some) of mine too. They were stored in plastic baggies with other G3s in a plastic bin. I'd guess it's a combination of the lower quality of G3s, and maybe for my ponies, a lack of air flow from being in a bag for too long. Maybe switching to wrapping them in tissue paper would be better or airing them out more often. I have had G1s stored the exact same way that look as perfect as they did decades ago though. I think I have sparkle ponies from the 80's that still look fine.
