Is there anyway to tell if a G4 blind bag loose pony is real besides comparing the design?
Thanks

Check the numbers in the bottom and look for the logo on feet. And look it up on ID sites like Starwberry Reef

Ty. <3 I didn't know they had their feet marked. I ordered them for a really cheap and they look identical to the real ones and I'm waiting on them now but one can never be too sure.

Sometimes the ones from Chinese sellers are still genuine MLP, but are factory seconds that didn't make the quality cut. Usually their paint jobs are a little askew or something.

Then others, like the black ones you see are flat out fakes. I still like them, they're fun.

Yea that is what I was going to say. I have always been a bit torn about buying these since I never knew if it was right they were being sold. There is no way to really know for sure. Off to go see these black ones u r talking about.

Oh yea they are on ebay all of the time. Just about any toy out there that is popular has a fakie made of it.

There's some really cute multi coloured ones. I'll try to remember to dig them out so you can all see them.

Okay, show n tell time, my luvs! Gather round and let foofoo share off her filthy counterfeit ponies! :D

Pony on the left is an official straight from the bag MLP. Center pony was bought loose from a Chinese seller. She has the same type of hoof numbers as the official. She is probably from the same factory, but was not packaged up because her paint job wasn't quite up to snuff. On the right, is an official MLP eraser. She is made from the same molds as the blind bags, but looks at first like a fakie because of her poor paint quality.

On the left you have an official, straight outta her package MLP keychain. AJ and Pinkie are of the same quality and probably from the same company, but have no findings. They are sold by Chinese sellers. They are probably the same toy, but lack a large black printed CE on their hooves, which Rainbow has. Otherwise they are identical to the original, official toy.

On the left is an official blind bag toy. On the right are two fakies. They use the exact same molds as the blind bags, but aren't official. They lack the hoof numbers. Interestingly, I'd love to get more of the fakies. Unlike the blind bags who have just been dusted with glitter and have an awful texture, the fakies have glitter suspended within their plastic and don't shed glitter everywhere. So, they are wonderfully smooth to the touch and well painted. They probably reflect a wave to come and were made in the same factory as the official toys. It's not unusual for foreign companies to produce 'real' toys and counterfeits in the same darn locale.

This is a sampling of the cheap knock offs you can get from some Chinese sellers. They appear to be made from a mold of a mold. I assume this because they have a good deal of flashing (plastic that fell between the seams of a mold). This is usually an indicator of a secondary, poor quality mold. As you can see, the paint is pretty dismal, and the markings are simple, easy to replicate. These counterfeits are easy to spot because of the issues with quality. They cheap and fun though, and good for customs.

This is my small army of Fluttershy fakies. The upper left Fluttershy is an original, and all the others are fakies. Rather than having painted manes and tails, theirs are separate coloured plastic. You'll notice their heads are a separate piece as well, and poorly constructed in some cases. However, the plastic seems to be of a very good quality and has a beautiful sheen that the official blind bags toys don't. These are probably very probably coming from a factory illegally making these toys that has no license with Hasbro at all.

These are more of the above line. They're cheap and usually sold in lots of 12. There is a repetition of cutie marks, you'll only see about 4 in use, but I particularly like these because the Rarity base unicorns often have the major stink face you see here. Again, they're 100% fake, but fun.

And now we have the last kind of fakie I've spotted recently...

Original blind bag on left for size comparison. These use the same separately molded plastic manes and tails as above, but with original molds. However they're obviously somewhat mimicking the MLP style. I found them to be exceptionally cute. They were 4 for $5, and they were two sets. I regret not buying the other, because they're really adorbable. The plastic is very similar to the of the multi-coloured fakies and is less pliable and more firm. Their paint jobs are well done and I actually really fancy the sculpt. They look more 'ponyish'.

I hope this helps a little in spotting a fakie. Some of the Chinese sellers are definitely selling the real deal, even if they are selling factory seconds, but some are quite clearly counterfeit.

Me, I'll buy whatever I can get my paws on. I have no shame. :D

Oh, I like those chubby fakies at the end, there! Much more pony-ish!

I'm loving those fakies! Might have to check e-bay for some.
