Hello! I'm MeowFactor.

2002 baby! he/him ️‍⚧

I am at heart an artist and a lover of cats. I've been "collecting" since 2002, and Collecting™ since early 2021.
My most beloved is G3, though I'll happily collect any generation.
I also collect various minerals and am a total gem nerd.

I've been a My Little Pony fan quite literally almost my entire life. My first ponies were a family of three MJ Fakies and it's all snowballed from there! Growing up in the 2000s, I had a modest collection of a few G3 ponies that stole my heart. I distinctly remember Pearly Pie being a favorite of mine. I had the hardcover Storybook Collection, but had never seen even a second of animated material until I got Pinkie Pie's Special Day as a birthday gift when I turned seven. I got my first MLP movie with Twinkle Wish Adventure, and let me tell you, I was OBSESSED with it. I'd watch it day in and day out. With the advent of G3.5, I also came into possession of a few Meet the Ponies DVDs that came with the toys. And when G4 premiered, albeit a bit put off by the new look, I was captivated all over again-- instantly falling in love with Applejack, who remains to this day my favorite G4 pony! Around this time I also began frequently drawing ponies and making up my own characters. Throughout the years I continued to request ponies for birthday gifts (yet kept being disappointed by the lack of unique characters,) and my G4 collection quickly outgrew G3 by a mile. As a child I had always been very outspoken and proud about loving My Little Pony, never succumbing to bullying or taunts. Once I reached high school, however, my tune changed a bit. I'm not sure if it's a mix of teenage insecurity, (subjectively) degrading writing in Friendship is Magic, or maybe a mix of both, but my love of ponies became quiet and undisturbed for a good few years.

...enter 2020.

Freshly graduated and looking on at the bright future of... stuck at home with no idea what's to happen next, I found myself diving back into My Little Pony. I finished FIM, and then went even further back, rewatching all the G3 media I could find, then My Little Pony Tales! (for some reason I can't stick to the original G1 show aside from Rescue at Midnight Castle. Perhaps someday I'll watch it all.) Soon enough I began drawing My Little Ponies instead of Crystal Gems, and might I say, they look much nicer than the ponies I used to draw as a child! :lolpony:

At some point in 2021, I saw the Basic Fun G3 repros and wanted to get my hands on an Applejack, but she was the only one I could never find in stores. And so, off to eBay I went, and bought what I consider the catalyst in my adult MLP collecting life. Since then, I started with cleaning up my childhood toys, and then progressed to buying new ponies for my collection. ...I don't have a real place to put them, so they currently live in storage, but I have a lovely time fixing up secondhand ponies all the same. Someday, I'll dedicate a bookshelf or two to all my cute colorful equines.

Honestly I'm surprised I hadn't joined this forum sooner! Well, I'm glad to be here now. This seems like a lovely and passionate community of collectors. :redheart:

Welcome pony friend! I love to meet other early 2000s collectors (I’m a 2004 baby myself).

Hey there!

Welcome in! I hope you enjoy your stay!

Hi and welcome to the mlptp!

Welcome to the MLPTP :) I've been a My Little Pony fan pretty much my entire life as well, I don't really remember a time when I didn't love ponies, only I got a 20 year head start on you LOL I grew up with G1 and have also always loved them, I did have a spell as a teenager when I lost interest, but not enough to get rid of them, just enough to pack them into the attic. I'm glad for that cause in my late teens when people started having computers in their homes I found my interest renewed with this cool new site called eBay ;) since then I've been actively collecting.

And good for you for not letting others dull your pony sparkle! As an adult it can seem weird to others that we collect colorful plastic ponies but life is short, do what makes you happy! I'm fortunate to have a family and husband that accept and even support my pony habit and I am confident enough to not care what anyone really thinks anyway. We should never be ashamed of what makes us happy and people who don't get that can get going IMHO.

Your artwork is great! Look forward to seeing ya around the corral :)

Hii there! :D I totally know what you mean I had a period in my teenage life where I didnt collect ponies at all. G3 had came to an end and there just wasnt any toys at the store I wanted anymore. I wasnt bullied over ponies but was over other things. It was a weird time lol. G4 came out and I was so pony deprived lol

Welcome to you!! I've been a G1 fan almost my whole life, but that's because I grew up in the 1980's, hehe! It's neat that new generations of ponies keep people coming back to the whole hobby decade after decade. I like a lot of the G3 ponies, too; they have some great color palettes!
I hear you about the MLP Tales tv show, it wasn't what I wanted, but I was obsessed with Rescue From Midnight Castle and the other mini-movie in the same style, Escape from Catrina. We got a lot of kids media in the '80's that was kind of dark? But so cool!
Thanks for sharing your artwork! It's really good! Hope you have fun here! I came back recently after a VERY long hiatus and found the boards hopping with things to do because of Halloween and the Fundraiser. I'm guessing it might quiet a little bit while people rest after Pony Friends Forever convention and start thinking about winter holidays, but hopefully you'll find plenty to enjoy.
