Hello, I've just joined to this forum. I love MLP since the early 90s, when ponies entered to my country, Hungary, and to my life. As a child I've never got a genuine MLP as they were rare and expensive that time, but had some ponies (fakies) and loved to play with. (I still own them, and one is particularly important to me, because I got her from my grandma, who was very close to me. I plan to rehair that pony.:)) As a child I always watched the G1 cartoon series on TV.
Later I collected some MLPs, because the love of little ponies never faded after almost 30 years. Maybe my little daughter will like them as well.
My other hobbies include doll customizing, cosplay, reading.

Welcome to the herd

Welcome welcome!

Welcome to the MLPTP :) Your comment about not having ponies cause they were rare and expensive at the time amuses me, cause I think now more than ever ponies have become rare and expensive, at least G1s. Sheesh! Have you seen some of the prices on ebay lately, yikes! But I'm glad you get to treat yourself to ponies now and I think the childhood ones are our most special, even if they are fakies, it doesn't make them any less valuable cause we love them!

Thanks! :) Yes, as I browsed the info of vintage MLP, also noticed and wondered that wow, these toy horses really became a thing during the decades! :D And I feel old when something from my childhood is considered now as "vintage". Time flies and so many things changed since...
About the rarity and expensiveness in the past, I assume they might be a little bit expensive, because Hasbro in Hungary was a relatively new company (since 1991) and these toys came from the West and were advertised on TV. (I don't know where exactly were imported from. As I can remember, my cousin had a Wave Runner. Maybe I'll ask her to check the hoof if she still owns this pony.)

Hi! Welcome to the herd! Gald you found your way here. :Flutter4:

What generation of ponies finally made their way to Hungary in the 90's, G2s?

Thanks! :satisfied:

G1 ponies and merch were definitely in Hungary, they were advertised on TV, we had the G1 movie and the series as well in the 90s, and these were broadcasted on a children's channel later in the 2000s with a new dub. I remember the ad of the G1 pony school. And there were a G1 Panini sticker album that I didn't know it existed until recently I saw someone's Facebook post. How could I miss it? :lolpony: I collected most of the released sticker albums at school.

G2... well, I think we had G2, at least in McDonald's as Happy Meal Toy. I have one of them, from 1999, Princess Silver Swirl with castle. I can't recall more, but it doesn't mean they were not. (Probably we had them, but at this time I was about 15 and not rreally focused on ponies. New school, new town etc.)
