Hello again!

My name is Kelli and I’m 43. I was pretty active here between 2003 and 2007ish so I’ve been gone for a hot minute!

I was 3 when MLP debuted and my first ever pony was Blossom. Over my childhood I acquired 19 ponies and got an accidental stowaway from my best friend when I move away when I was 8… Windy.

G2s came out when I was a teenager and while I was thrilled to see the brand returning, I was more than a little confused by the design. I bought two for nostalgia’s sake. (Petal Blossom and Morning Glory)

I had my daughter in 2002 when I was 22 and *literally* ran into the G3 display at Walmart while shopping with her in 2003. (Seriously… I knocked over the display with my cart, lol) I bought the two-pack of Sparkleworks and Star Swirl (for her, supposedly) and proceeded to lose my mind for the next 5 years, acquiring several hundred between the three generations.

At the end of 2007 I had my son, my focus shifted and my collection went into storage. Fast forward 16 years and a TON of life changes and I’m finding my way back to some good childhood memories while fighting depression. Being back on these forums is such a warm and fuzzy feeling and I’m SO GRATEFUL for all the volunteers making sure they’re still here!!

So anyway… I also love Sailor Moon (Sailor Pluto in particular), witchy crystal stuff, everything rainbow, the color gray, sushi, the book series He Who Fights with Monsters, Green Day, and the Diablo video games.

As for mlp My favorite is g3 because that's what I grew up with but I love the other gens as well minty is my favorite! XD

I love your story about how you have been collecting for year's and walking into the display had me giggling, imaging it!

Wow! So your love of ponies spanned nearly all the generations! What do you think of the current incarnations? When G2 and G3 (and G1 if you can recall) were just coming out, were there many adult collectors in the fray?

I fell head over heels for G3 because they were more similar to the originals and I remember the mixed reactions on here when G3.5 was leaked (mostly excited) and then the full transition to G4. I wasn’t able to get on board, unfortunately. And G5 holds no appeal for me… yet, lol. We’ll see what being back on the boards does for that.

As I recall, the boards were packed with G3 adult collectors who loved the call back to our childhoods! Those were a very fun couple of years sharing the excitement of the reboot.

Haha, I bet that was lots of fun! I feel similarly, though as a kid I was outraged when they transitioned to G3.5 XD Thanks for sharing! :smile:

If you were outraged at 3.5, what was your opinion going forward with 4 and 5?

The hard bodies, small size, and heavy stylization, don't really do it for me. I don't hate them, I've got some G4s and the mini figures are adorable, but I don't seek them out. 1 and 3 are great because they're distinctly horse-like with the soft vinyl bodies and a substantial size and that beach ball smell :ponylove:
