Awww, thank you SO MUCH,
everypony!!! :hugs: I'm so happy you like them!
I couldn't resist buying them---they're just too cute and it was fun to style their hair and tails to be more accurate. (I can't believe Hasbro sells them so....bland/incorrect! How do they get away with it?!?)
And when Applejack and Fluttershy came with their pets, I couldn't help but make the rest!!! (I'm a nut when it comes to 'completion.') ^^;;
MarinaKirby-san, for Applejack's hat, it's actually a "1984 Western Barbie" hat! I cut the front shape and then painted the whole thing a tan color. It fits perfectly and really makes her! (Again, I can't believe Hasbro gets away without giving Applejack her hat! I mean, she never (well, almost never) is seen without it!!!! :laughs: Thank you for liking it!!!!
Love them! And, if you don't mind my asking, how did you ever style the hair to such a lovely state?
Thank you so much,
GloriaFan-san! I'm a dollmaker, so I'm used to styling doll hair, and so I already had an idea what to do with them. Fluttershy, again, I left alone, because she was already good enough. ^^ (Wow, she's lucky, ne?) But the rest all needed help.
Applejack just needed some bangs added and her hat, so she was simple enough.
Rarity, too, only needed her mane curled into a ringlet style. I used a thin 'hot stick' curler and boiled her hair, three times. (From experience, nylon hair needs to be 'permed' 3 times before it will stay in style for any length of time.) Then, I sprayed it with a shot of hair spray to keep it in place even more, but that's not necessary. Just an extra precaution. ^^
For Rainbow Dash, I cut her hair/styled it but I also made the trimmed hair from her mane in a plug to push into her tail, so ALL the rainbow colors are in the tail, too and not just the blue/purple! I think it really made a difference to her accuracy. ^^
Twilight Sparkle needed a similar treatment----I cut her bangs, moved the streaks to the correct places, took the remnants I cut from her bangs, and made a plug, to stick into her tail to make it more indigo than pink. (For some reason, Hasbro gave her way too much pink in her tail) Then, I boiled her bangs in place (using a chenille/fuzzy stick to tie around her head to keep the bangs flat against her head) 3 times. I also straightened her mane and tail at the same time, and trimmed the ends 'straight' blunt across.
Pinkie Pie didn't need any trimming, or additions---just curling. I took small 4" pieces of the chenille/fuzzy sticks, then took small tufts of her hair and made 'curlers.' Particularly, I made certain to make her front 'bang' curls stick out the front.
I put about a dozen on her mane and 8 in her tail. Then, I boiled her 3 times, waited until she dried, removed the 'curlers' carefully, trimmed the ends neat, and then gave her a few shots of hairspray to keep the curls in place for a long time. ^^
And thank you so much for liking the pets, too!!!! They were fun to create!!!! I'm glad you all like Opal so much! She's my favorite, too!!
Thanks again, min-na!!! I REALLY appreciate your comments so much!! :hugs:
