Cleaning out grandpa's house

My condolences on your loss, first of all..
:xmashug:

Second, I'm glad that there has at least been a silver lining of reconnecting with your kin, and receiving custody of these treasures, these precious objects of memory.

Finally got around to dissecting the Halloween house. It has several buttons on the side and each controls a "spooky thing". It does have electrical mechanisms and takes batteries for the sounds and light but the rest of it is just springs and bars. It was terribly dusty and needed a good cleaning in and out and some the the functions needed some minor repair but I managed to figure out how to take it apart, tinker a bit and put it back together. I couldn't get the door to open and shut  you can do it manually but I couldn't get that one figured out.
Here are some pics of it and what it does :Glowpump:

Oh wow! That Halloween house is super cool! And congratulations to you for figuring out how to repair it! :D

That's a shame @MegaLeafeon but who knows maybe when the time comes (and hopefully it won't be anytime soon) but when your GG does pass that son will have a change of heart and at least let family have an opportunity to get a few things. If his house really is as packed as my grand dad's was it's no easy feat to clean out! It took us all helping for 2 months to get it cleaned out and sorted enough for the estate people to come in. They are going through everything else this month and an estate sale is planned for the rest of the stuff in the house. Maybe when the time comes you can offer to "help" and in doing so, get the chance to get some personal treasures.

The last thing from Papaw's I brought home was a big mirror from their dining room. No one else wanted it and even though I'm not ready to hang it yet, hopefully in the next year I will be. I plan on doing some remodeling and wanted a big mirror for the dining room anyway. I typically try not to acquire things I don't have a space for yet but I couldn't pass it up. My grandparents house was the holiday gathering place for our family for so many years and I think of all the family members sitting around the table, enjoying the holidays being reflected in that mirror and I thought it would be lovely to have it continue to reflect our family gatherings in my own dining room. Over the past several years my house has become our holiday gathering place and it makes me happy to think it continues to absorb the reflections of our family spending good times together over good food. I feel like it must have good ju-ju LOL
