Hello!
So, most of you guys know I love drawing and customizing ponies. But I actually started out customizing dolls! I’m currently working on customizing all of the new Monster High characters in my own style. Here’s three of the ghouls I’ve finished so far!
Here’s Frankie! They’re one of my favs, especially now that they’re canonically nonbinary! They were my first MH custom, and I think I’ve improved a lot at my face up skills, but I’m really proud of their body mods. Their lower arms are attached with magnets, so I can swap them out for other gadgets like in the show! ….once I actually sculpt them some gadgets to wear, LOL!
LAGOONA! She’s ALSO one of my favorites, because anybody who knows me will tell you I LOVE fish!!! I adore her new rainbowfish design in G3, so colorful!! Honestly it's like she was designed SPECIFICALLY for me LOL! I had so much fun customizing her. I made her scales more prominent, colored her arms blue to match her legs and fins, gave her BIG fishy eyes, and changed her pupils to be horizontal like an octopus!
And last, Draculaura! The base drac that I used had poly hair, so she was my first attempt at a reroot! She's also my favorite faceup I've done to date. I tried to give her a monolid and appropriate eyeshadow to show the fact that she's taiwanese, and I think I was...somewhat successful? Honestly draculauras sculpt has a very prominent browbone that is less common in east Asian facial features so it was a bit of a struggle, but either way i think she turned out really pretty. I also wanted to make her fangs 3D by building up white paint instead of just drawing them on top of her lips. (I'm so glad to say that I was able to sell this Draculaura at SWPA pony meet!! It's the first doll I've ever sold! I hope she's having fun at her new home)
I'm currently working on rerooting and faceupping Clawdeen and Abbey! Clawdeen is getting some pretty braids to replace her yucky un-curly poly hair, and Abbey got mix of white and dusty purple with lots of shimmery icey accents, as well as removing her middle part because it totally hid her cute horns!! Here's a preview of my faceup plan for Abbey:
Abbey is my favorite character from G1 because I related to her a lot- so it's important to me that I do her justice in the faceup! I tried to capture a more stern, "cool" (lol) appearance and draw her mouth in a way that shows her underbite. I also tried to make her look appropriately frosty I'll tell u guys I've already started her faceup on the doll and I think I'm doing an even better job capturing my ideas irl than I did in the concept art! It's such a great feeling when you can look at art and feel very proud of it
Thank you for reading!!!
