There is a little lot on ebay with a certain htf mail order pony in it. People keep emailing the seller asking him to end the auction. It is getting so bad, the seller emailed me asking what the heck is up?!

Just bid and get it over with. Set a snipe if you have to, but for God's sake, leave the man alone already!

Yet no one wants to bid officially on it hoping that no one else knows about said rare pony. Well the gig is up...everyone knows and everyone apparently has no morals Sad

This is why I don't sell lots anymore. People message me constantly asking me to set some ridiculously low buy it now or end the auction for them. Then when I refused, they'd say things like "your ponies really aren't worth much more than I'm offering" or "this is the best offer you're going to get, you'd be a fool not to take it."

Some buyers, geez.

I hear ya...

Here's a great alternative for everyone: if you want a specific item from a lot, just raise your bid and sell off the ones you don't need. It's all part of collecting. How would any of you feel if I'd cheated you out of a great opportunity? It's not a nice feeling. Honestly, you don't have any priviledges to an item 500+ others also spotted in a live auction. That's why it's an auction, not a garage sale. And while I'm at it, I also want to say I think it's truly sad so many people intend to rip sellers off by grossly underpaying for HTF items. I am not talking about a few dollars, but about private BIN's that were like one-half, one-third or even one-fifth of an items' actual value. Some people end up paying only $30 for an item that should be worth at least $100.

I am shocked to find brag posts about extremely hard to find items that were grossly underpaid for whilst the high bidder knew about said items' rarity and value. [EDIT: I am only talking about items of auctions that were ended early and then re-listed as private Buy It Now.] I am even more shocked to see other people condoning or approving of this behavior. Even if it fits within eBay's rules- does it make it right? Is it OK for someone to 'steal' the auction for a couple of bucks? It's even more frustrating if this happens to an item that's only spotted on eBay once in every two or three years. :nodno:

Personally I think it's scandaleous some people are so proud of their deception. It's one thing to cheat others out of the opportunity to bid, but to end up paying a nickle...? What happened to being sportive to other collectors and giving others fair chances? If you want to win an auction, place a bid.

Thank you.

As I mentioned on the Arena, the seller is going to be relisting the pony. It just sounds like he's going to update the title, etc. to inform people what he has. So all is good.

NO its not ALL good. Because people did that the fun find auction for someone is ruined. Stop telling sellers what they have. Its rude.

No, it's not good. People really need to stop trying to snag items from under other buyers. It happens all the time and is getting rediculous. Stop interfering.

Wow...I hope you guys aren't directing your hostility towards ME. "I" didn't say a friggin WORD to the seller. I just contacted him to ask him what happened to the auction because everybody was throwing a fit over there. I was just telling you people what I found out. Wow...try to help out with information and you get jumped on. :cussing:

When he relists it now, he'll probably put Rare or Mail order or both in the title and it will go way up. Not that I have any money to bid, just a thought......

@Playfulheart--No, the hostility isn't directed towards you. It's directed toward those people that are interfering with live auctions. It has been happening for some time now. They know who they are.

Playful Heart - nobody is blaming you hun! Our general irritations are not directed at you, but at the people who started this.

Exactly. I'll just round up what happened:

1. Some people spotted a rare MO in a small lot and started mailing the seller with 'impossible to refuse' offers.

2. The seller is warned by others not to take those offers, because they are anxious someone will get away with her for a ridiculously low price AND cheat others out of the opportunity to bid. Inevitably, someone had to spill the beans to make the seller understand he can get more for this pony (otherwise, she had most likely been sold off for 20 bucks).

3. The seller now realizes he can make much more money out of that pony and relists the item with the new information.

The positive news is that's she's still available for everyone thanks to everyone who stepped in and informed the seller in time. The negative news is the people who started this BS just blew it for people who spotted her all by themselves, just like Whippet pointed out. Hence the hostility. It's very irksome to say the least.

I know it's frustrating, but I had asked the seller about the auction AFTER he had canceled it because people were saying he was selling off eBay. I didn't even KNOW about the auction until it was mentioned in BOTH of these message boards. I was just curious about what happened so I asked and then informed everybody what he had told me. I was just trying to HELP OUT. There was NO need to jump on me for anything because I did NOTHING WRONG. I did NOT inform him of what he had. I did NOT help him out with ANY information. So DON'T get on MY case about doing something that I didn't do.

If these responses were not directed at me...fine. But the least you guys could do would be to apologize to me because I took EXTREME offense at how you responded to me. QUOTING me means you were attacking me. I am VERY upset about this and don't appreciate being spoken to as such. I do NOT collect G1. I was just TRYING TO HELP.

And you people say some of us made a BIG FUSS about those Anniversary ponies. Good Lord...

PF hun, they didn't mean to cause offence, although they didn't word it very well in order to make that clear. *Huggles*

I agree with TSS. It's dishonest and greedy, and screws people on every side of the 'asker' apart from the 'asker' themselves. People who do it should be utterly ashamed of themselves, as I think it says a lot about their character as a person. It's just seflish all round.

Playful...I am not mad at YOU either. I was just upset to hear it called a GOOD thing that he is relisting. I would never call that a good thing. But it had nothing to do with you. :22:

Well, better him relist and give people a chance again than have him sell it outside ebay and NO one get a chance except the jerk who offered.

me too please....I think I know which auction you are talkin about but want to be sure.

Link me too please! XD Not interested in any rare ponies myself. Too broke... >>;;

Sounds familiar to me! *thinks back to the first 100 reissues*
