I don't know whether this is in the right forum, so mods, feel free to move it if necessary.

I am really bored at the moment, so I decided to go have a look at the old board. I was just browsing through the feedback collecting what feedback Id been given on there, and I noticed that there had been 5 guests that had visited the site in the last 15 minutes!!

Does this mean that it's still linked everywhere? Or do some of you go look sometimes, for nostalgia?

I venture on every now and again just to have a little nose.

But its not active is it? I mean people can't post there anymore can they?

No, I think you can only post on the main discussion board, just in case you can't get onto the new board for whatever reason.

Just went there for another venture. It feels so weird, almost like some type of ghost town! lol. It also makes me appreciate the new layout and brighter colours of the .net trading post.

While surfing throught pony sites, I know I've found a few that link to the old board. Mostly they were old sites that are no longer updated.

I think when I first starting looking for pony info, I stumbled across the old trading post...which made me come here! That was a while ago though...I was so happy to find something like the post at first I didn't realize it wasn't an active webby anymore.

I can't see anything. I was banned forever from the site for no reason. I think it was one of those blanket IP bans or something.

Apparently, when you search on Yahoo or Google for "My Little Pony Trading Post," the old website is the first search result which shows up!

And I noticed that new people still occasionally post over there... I guess they get confused.

*edit* Actually, just so people don't get confused, shouldn't the old web site just get taken down?

If my understanding is correct, the reason we moved over here (other than the crappy ez-board thing) was that the webmaster Jen had basically abandoned the site. She owns the link and the actual pages, but SS and others had access to it. But since they don't *own* it, they can't take it down or reuse the .com name.

Also guys, you should probably think about the fact that it's been so long, when you yourself go to the page you're listed as a guest. Unless you haven't deleted your cookies since before June 6, 2005. lol.

That's her fault then for leaving...if I left the room with a cookie on my desk someone would snatch it...I don't know what that has to do with anything, but it's just irresponsible

I knew someone would mistake what I said. I meant that since she practically just got up and left, why not remove the old site and claim this one? I certainly wouldn't wait around for her to come back and start changing things....

I think there's a lot of people here, including myself, who think we should just move on without her.

The fact is Galaxy, everyone tryed to get through to her and contact her, but (from what I understand) she just totally ignored SS and the other mods attempts of contact. So she knew something like this was going to happen, and she didn't care about it. That's why this place was created.

...I'm not complaining that this place was created, I'm saying that why don't they just remove the old site and claim this one. Jens the one that walked out, why wait for her to come back? I wouldn't. If I was the other mods I'd just claim this site and remove the other one. No where in my other posts have I complained about this site.

*pats Galaxy* don't worry, I got your meaning. lol.

what was was saying guys, was that it was stupid for her to leave. and stupid-er that SS can't technically own the .com address now, since Jenn just abandoned it.

I know your not complaining about anything, Im just saying that it's not possible for SS to remove the old board, as it doesn't technically belong to her. But I do agree with you, the fact that Jen seemed to walk out on her board doesnt mean that there can't be anything else after it.

Yup. Nobody can "remove" the old site. It is Jen's property that she paid for - and regardless of if you left a cookie on the desk and somebody took it, whoever took it is still stealing. I don't believe anybody here wants to start stealing - or hacking, as that would be the only way to tamper with the domain name & server space. Make sense?

I beleive that domain names come up for renewal every 3 years or so (at least that's what it is for the one I own), so eventually someone else in the community may be able to buy the rights to it. That is assuming the original owner doesn't renew. She can renew and do nothing with the domain name for as long as she likes. It's like owning an empty lot.
