So I was bored looking around on youtube and I stumbled upon this episode of G3. I think this one was super cute.

My Little Pony G3: Butterfly Island-Friends Are Never Far Away - YouTube

I was already grown up when the G3s came out. I was wondering if we have any members who played with G3s as kids and now joined the collector ranks? Sound off let's see if you are around and all grown up! Or at least more grown up :smilepony:

That'd be me! Not all grown up, but close enough. I've been wondering who else is out there; I know there are a few of us.

That would be me as well, I was born when g2's were still around, but by the time I was old enough to like things for myself g3's had begun and I loved them so much but could only afford two; Wisteria and Tink-a-tink-a-too! Still have them and love them! And thanks to them I now have over 280 ponies from every generation.
Wisteria was the first pony I ever bought with money I saved up! I now have 2 more Wisterias  I'm 18 so does that count as somewhat grown up? :p
Would love to see how many other people here were from the time of g3's!

G3's were going strong when I was in college, but I grew up playing with G1's. I did end up getting a couple of G3's cause they're so stinkin' cute: Peachy Pie and Silver Song. They now sit on my desk at work with a few G1 ponies that I rotate out of my collection from home. I like how they carried the vintage look into the G3's. Kinda wish the G4's looked more similar.

Me! My first two ponies were Cotton Candy and Strawberry Swirl... I got them when I was four or five (I'm only 14 now). I think I had about ten ponies, although I've lost four of them. :cry2:

Yay! I knew we would get some new life long collectors who grew up with G3. Keep your ponies forever! Don't ever sell them no matter what. I kept all my ponies even through the "ponies aren't cool anymore" phases.

CandySwirl what happened to the ones that you lost? :sadpony:

Post pics of your fav G3 pony! Mine is

They never showed her again in any of the other specials :sadpony:

I am! When I was 7 I adored horses, so my mum bought me a ton of ponies, my favourite at the time being sapphire shores. I decided to sell them, or give them to charity. Thank god we never got round to doing it as all the ponies sit on my Shelf with all my others now :)

CandySwirl what happened to the ones that you lost? :sadpony:

I really don't know. I think I still have them somewhere... I wouldn't have gotten rid of them and neither would my parents. I just can't find them! :sadpony:

Well, I do know where one is... I took Skywishes with me to a science museum when I was about 6 or 7 and lost her. :surprisepony:

Sorry I was born during g1 :) but collect g3 now! boy that pic of Kimono sure looks familiar!

It's not my pic of Kimono I just googled it. lol All my ponies are locked in storage right now so I can't take a photo of my lovely girl.

I lost two ponies at the beach once when I was little, still makes me sad to this day. :(

I know it is one of my pictures lol :) I was not upset. I do not mind as long as it is not being used for sales.

It stinks when you loose ponies. My mom threw out all of my g1s when I was little...

lol :blushpony:

Thanks for letting me us the piccy!

Now your turn! More pretty G3s let's see them!

OK so I have been bored.

I went back and watched every single G3 episode.

I have questions...

Why is very single episode about having a party? I mean they are cute and sweet and all but I wish they would have given G3s a more developed story line.

Not a fan of the way they made Spike in G3... odd?

Also I am glad that they finally changed Rainbow Dash's voice. It was super annoying. Although I thought it was funny that they had to go back and change all the other old shows on Rainbow Dash's special day.

Also I thought the "special day" was their wedding day! Pinkie Pie looks like she's getting married does she not? Boy was I wrong...

I see where they went with the "core 7" friends to the "mane 6" in FiM.

I love the look and animation of the G3s.. just wish they would have gotten better story lines.

I remember Jewel posted something years ago about "What it meant to be a pony" it was all sugar sweet... like ponies have tea parties, ponies like pink.. ect... I mean gee yeah all of those things are true but gez I think they were trying to reach for pre-schoolers rather than girls who were a little older. G4 clearly was not intended to be sugary sweet and for 4 year olds..... Interesting. :)

Also I LOVE Puzzle Mint's accent! Her phase that she said got a little annoying but I thought she was cute. Was she a UK exclusive? I can't remember.

I absolutely love the G3 art as well, but I could never sit through any specials, even as a kid. The reason they're all happiness and sugar and rainbows is because that's what was expected of girls when I was little. The stereotype is actually a bit surprising for the early 21st century. I felt that all little girls when I was younger were expected to love pink, Disney princesses, tea parties, glitter, Barbies, baby dolls, etc., and girls were still sugary sweet up until they were 7 or 8 (in my experience). Although I was ok with those things to some extent, I was a bit tomboyish and definitely knew I was not fitting the expectation. That's why I loved ponies, because they were animals, not dolls. These were just my experiences, anyway. I don't know if anyone else's were the same.

Oh, my favorite G3 is Shenanigans, my very first pony. And this pic is actually her:

My other childhood favorites were Candy Apple and Cotton Candy, and some of my more recent favorites are Port-O-Bella, Soda Float, Candy Cane, and Winter Snow.

I'm not quite grown up yet because I'm only 14, but I loved G3 as a little kid! :smilepony:
I had a lot of ponies back then, and I've only been able to relocate some of my old girls so far, but my mom's trying to help me.

I had around 30 back then, and now my collection has grown to 73, not including the ponies that I need to find. I miss them! :cry2: I had such good memories playing with my ponies.
My favorite was Breezy, one of my first, and I would play with her and her scooter all day.

Now I've continued to collect G3 ponies, it brings back such nice memories ^w^

Well here are a few of my favorite at the moment....

I had g3s. My first pony was pinkie pie 1 and I got her when I was 3. :)

I got my first pony when I was about twelve. She was G3 Fluttershy. She's the only pony I've had for a while because my parents were strict about toys and I didn't want to pester them - I was such a good child! Fluttershy must have been really lonely. :cry2:

But since last month I've started collecting G3 ponies with my allowance! I now have a small collection of ten ponies. Fluttershy has yet to be united with them as she's at my parents' house. I think I'll stick to collecting G3s. I find G4 toys really boring, and nowhere as pretty as G3!

Now for some photos:

Magnetic ponies!

Speaking of magnetic ponies, one of my favorite things to do with my G3s when I was little was take them to Lowes or the Home Depot and stick them to the shelves and all the hardware. Yes, I was a bit strange.

I grew up with the g1's. My mom practically collected them for me, just kept buying and buying... On her whim.

I look at a couple posts here, and I'm starting to wonder if the reason my mom bought me so many ponies was because I was Tom boyish. I looked at my older brother as a role model and dressed like him sometimes.. So now I wonder if my mom was trying to balance things back out. XD

If so, it worked because I despise jeans now and wear nothing but leggings and skirts...

As a kid I ended up playing with ponies and Hot Wheels cars. Held the ponies dearly, and boxed them up when I came to the age where it was no longer considered appropriate to play with them...

When the g3's came out, it was around the time where I graduated high school.

I was so surprised and happy, because the g3's seemed to be an improved development from the g1's, be ause the bulky kind of ugly size of the g1's was not repeated in the g3's, but the cutesy Hasbro trademark look of mlp was very well-present in the g3's.

As a personal opinion, I think the g2's and g4's lack the cutesy trademark look that screams "Hasbro My Little Pony".

They are cute and appealing in their own ways, but stray far from what a pony looks like. XD
