I have a ton of ponies that I'm preparing for sale/trade. Quite of number of nice G1's and all other generations as well.

I've been looking out for sales of my missing G1's and the boards seem pretty vacant. Most of the threads seem quite old with few G1's for sale. Where have they all gone? Even on Ebay, there seems to be a shortage of G1's. What gives?

The Arena seems to have loads more traffic than the TP.

I think it has to do with which area you live in. I heard that the pacific northwest has the most ponies. weird though. I do find some G1s around here sometimes I dont think locally collecting them is a huge pro unless you like live in settale washington since they run the goodwill and post them up on ebay. :/

I was referring to the online sales and trades. I guess I was comparing to how things were 15 years ago. There was easy access to online sales and trades. I live in Vancouver and I find ponies at thrift stores, but rarely G1's. It's a bit disappointing, because I'm looking to buy myself a birthday pony and I can't find anything that is under $20 Can to ship for one pony, which is absurd.

I live in Vancouver Washington pnw and literally never find wild ponies. Texas seems better.

You're Canada, right? I don't have many g1's for sale, but will always combine to lower cost. It's gotten bad on our end for shipping since anything over a pound in weight including the packaging has to be sent priority mail now. It basically means that more than one pony is $23.50 for starting shipping to Canada. It's still less than anywhere else.

If you check out my thread and find any you want, I can take them off eBay to lower costs more.

They have far more members, but if you use Facebook, many of the arena's sellers and more have their own sales pages. I honestly think fb is the best venue right now. I was kicked off the arena, long story, but I found that mlptp is much friendlier and understanding. There are countless groups on fb to buy. Even just nirvana. There's also etsy, offer up, ecrater, craigslist, and mercari.

I'm wary of buying or selling on Facebook but at least paypal has some protection.

That is a bummer and the reason I like throwing an extra in with just one pony. :)

I have found that the best way to stay safe on Facebook is to check their previous record of sales. Nearly everyone who is decent on there has ebay or arena references. There's also a group called
Bad b/s/t- mlp and other toys It has great information on some to avoid as it does require screenshots and proof of any claim made against another. Never take friends and family payments, never write a purchase as a gift, and never write a lower value on customs papers. I haven't had much more trouble with fb than eBay honestly.

Wow, thanks for the input ponies. I'm so out of touch with the buying trading world right now. I rounded up 40 G1's for sale or trade and I have a bunch of G3 and G4's. I updated my G1 need list and I still need over 150 ponies. I had better get on it.

Hey Tak, I was looking for your sale list, but I can't find it. A little help?

I've experienced a harder time finding G1s locally. I used to find them frequently and cheap at the flea markets. Not that I never find them, just rare now. I think people are just catching on to them actually being worth more than a quarter and listing online or selling in lots to the many vintage toy shops I've seen popping up. I haven't had a decent local find in a couple of years, and the lots I've bought have contained many of the same ponies. I haven't really been able to build upon my collection.

I wish my part of Texas was better. There's nothing out there but McDonald's Ponies. Our Goodwill distribution center is near me (like 50 miles) but they box up all the 'good' toys and ship them to be auctioned elsewhere. Best luck I've had seems to be in New Mexico, which is out of the question since it's hundreds of miles from me.

The G1s also seem to be way overpriced, because people don't know the difference between a rare and common Pony. They figure it's old, so it must be worth money, not realizing that there's a huge value difference between Snuzzle and say... Gypsy. They think it's all worth a fortune, even baity ones.

I have never had luck finding ponies in the wild aside from the McDonald's ponies and a one-time find of a couple manky G3s. I have found people selling G1s on Craigslist not too far from here. There was nothing hard to find or rare, but I was happy that I got a pretty good deal. I think we just have a lot of G1 collectors in Central Ohio because I do seem to ship a lot of eBay ponies pretty close to home...

If you're looking for G1s for sale, I have quite a few! Just check out my siggy for my website! I haven't updated my thread for a while because my siggy seems to sell them better than my thread and I'm fairly active on the boards.

When I buy lots, I prefer not to pay more than $3/pony since I have to spend time cleaning them. They're NEVER ready to sell or just put on my shelves. Many of the sellers have been accommodating and will accept my offer. There have been a couple, though, who think their Peachy is a Ladybird, figuratively speaking. And I just pass on those and move on. I'm not going to argue with anyone. There's one guy at the one flea market I go to... Most of the time he has nothing I need, but he always calls out the prices when I browse. He wants $3 for McDonald's ponies and fakies. He wanted $8 for a BBE Shady with regrind...

My biggest issue as a seller is the shipping costs. I try to be reasonable and lower the prices if I haven't cleaned them up, but, for instance, I have some ooak hair clips made in Australia. I listed them for $6.99 and free U.S. shipping. I was offered 4.55 for them. Since the shipping will cost $3.50 and eBay and PayPal take their cut, i said I couldn't go for less than $5.50. That will only cover shipping. The $2 Will be taken in fees. I can give them away to a kid at my daughter's school rather than dealing with packing costs and the stress of shipping. I don't sun fade or use chemical cleaners, so I take into account that most serious collectors will clean further.

As a buyer I set limits on how much per pony especially if they aren't display ready. I really haven't been a buyer for getting close to two years now. :(

I did just get sent a big box to sell including a baby princess sparkle, so I'm planning on cleaning them Monday and Tuesday. I'm sure I'll mark one lot at $2 per pony. I'm in the U.S. if you're interested, pm me.
