For the pines who face straight, what side do you consider their "Display Side"? (basically this is for the G1 Ponies - since the G3's only have one side with a symbol.....)

1) The side the Mane falls
2) The opposite side, with out the mane in the way.
3) Which ever side it the pony's "good side"
4) None, I display them facing the wall so I cam see their symbols!

A) the side the mane falls on. (or should fall on)

The pose is also arranged to look more attractive from the "mane" side as well. :p

Great post jeepn_girl! :declare: Can't wait to see what some of the other thoughts on this one are.

i think it depends how the hair falls...

I also voted for the side on which the mane falls, but this is not the case for some ponies, such as short haired Applejack and Bowtie. They look just awful from the other side.

Here's an example of the display side as "the side the mane falls on." A lot of ponies in this picture are displayed with what I think their display side is, and most of them happen to have their mane falling on that side. there are a few exceptions, heh.

I would normally say the side with the mane....but I actually said 'the good side' LOL That's because with the G1's I display them in different manners depending on my mood, but the one's looking straignt hmmm. My pacing G1's are displayed non mane side right now....and my Big Brothers more or less face out from the wall, so I guess it doesn't really matter which side is better! :)

Face forward

I make the hair go that way when styling so I see both thier faces and hair, and symbols. But I don't collect much so.

I said the side without the mane, but I'm not really sure. Most of my ponies are in storage, so the ones that are on display are displayed any way I can find to actually get them displayed. lol (I have no room. :))

Thanks FantasticFirefly! :D
I am really curious how everyone would like to view ponies. Mine, for example were just lined up, couldn't see their symbols, facing out from their shelves. Right now unfortunately, the bulk of my collection is in hibernation in storage. I hope to pull them out and take them too work, put their shelves up, an put them back on display. Basically for myself and the very small select few people who would actually come to see them, if any. Everyone around this valley would prolly think I'm nuts to have so many anyway.

Prettyrikapony, I understand what your saying! I have a select few that escaped the storage rubbermaids/boxes so I put them anyway they will fit and not fall off the place I put them. :)

I would like to add that it can be determined in alot of ponies as the side they turn to. Like with baby glory or another pony like that. Her head is turned to face to the left so that is her display side, the other side just shows the back of her head. Its not always about the hair ;)

I replied the side the mane falls on, but that's just my personal preference.

I have to say, the side they are facing, then the side the mane falls on. There are some that (I THINK) the mane falls the other direction, like the Masquerade pose, Am. Bowtie, Cherries Jubilee/Sunspot, and Star Dancer...

Just had a look on my shelves because I've never thought of this before lol,
Interesting thread.

In the posed ponies that lean in a direction the manes go on either side so I guess there is no rule of thumb for the forward facing ponies either.

I like the side without the mane mostly, because I like to see their faces.

I went with the "good side," since my house is crooked and sometimes tippy ponies (like Mimic) do the shelf belly flop if they aren't well-balanced. Generally it's the side the mane falls on...sometimes because the mane is hiding "bad stuff." *looks at Mimic again*

I agree with you 100% - the side they face then the side the mane falls, unless they are one one of 'those' poses lol. I think 9 out of 10 shy pose ponies have their hair on the 'other' side.

Thanks for the input everyone! I had allot of fun reading everyone responses too. I alway love to know why people do a certain thing with their ponies. :)

I usually just have them lined up on their shelves facing out. So the ones looking to the side, where doing just that. If there was room I would angle them a tad-bit to see their face. Unless I was really liking one of them they didn't stand sideways or anything.

All my Internationals and Mail Orders had their own roomy floor shelf unit. And they got posed standing sideways. Or in U.K Bowtie's case with Baby Bowtie's carriage, she's hooked up to it and Baby Bowtie is in it and that whole thing is sideways to see everything.

But now everyone is freezing their tails off in storage. I want to go get them but the storage building people haven't plowed it and with all the snow falling off the roof there is 4 feet of snow piled up and waiting for me to try and open the door so it can fall in. :(
