Okay folks, I need my best pony diagnosticians on this one.

I bought this Moondancer in a lot on eBay and I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on with her.

Her mane and tail are super stiff. I have tried washing and conditioning, everything, and nothing fixes it. When you brush it, the hair stays in the position you brushed it and doesn't move on it own. It's almost like it's been coated in hairspray but it doesn't feel sticky, just super stiff. Her tail is so badly this way that it can't be brushed at all, the comb just gets stuck. No tangles.

She is covered in weird tiny dirty dots that I cannot diagnose. I've tried everything to clean them: magic eraser, acetone, antibacterial soap, dish soap, everything I can think of, and they will not come off.

What am I supposed to do with her!?

It looks like "smooze" on her body: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/body.html#Smooze

Could someone have combed glue through her hair? Mineral spirits might remove plastic based glues like rubber cement. Rubbing alcohol might soften elmers or tacky glue. Glue is the only thing that I can think of that dries clear like that.

Hmmm, odd. Poor Moondancer? D:

How long have you left the conditioner in for? You may have to leave it in for maybe an hour, even, before washing it out... and it might need multiple washes? Also maybe soaking it under running hot water might help, too?? I don't know. :<

The dirt looks like it may be ingrained dirt/smooze? There's a tutorial for cleaning it here: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/body.html#Smooze ... IF you haven't tried that already, that is. c.c; It might be a case of just a lotta elbow grease + multiple cleanings, or it might just be that it's there forever. :<

Good luck, and I hope you find some method that works!

Looks like ingrained dirt.

I have no idea about her hair. Hope you can get it soft and shiny again. Poor pony.

Yes I agree, Glue is most likely what you are dealing with that is causing the stiffness. I have had a few ponies with this in the mane but not the tail. The way I have gotten rid of the ingrained dirt like that is a magic eraser, boiling water with oxy clean in it and some tongs. It is super hard to do but the boiling water helps open the holes and the oxy loosens the dirt. When you scrub with the magic eraser is gets a lot of that off, but I admit she has glitter and this process could ruin her so, I am not sure how to advice with a glitter girl. You can't ever use magic eraser on symbols anyway and hot oxy most likely would remove the glitter. So, don't try this on her, but it will work for other ponies.

Is her hair super dry? I've had some ponies that their hair was really stiff from being bleached (they came from a preschool) or a couple that I've used oxyclean on get really dry stiff hair. I would leave tons of conditioner in for a few days before rinsing out or you can try some olive oil. I used olive oil to remove some glue that was in a ponies hair and after washing it out her hair is sooo smooth and silky.

For the ingrained dirt a hot oxy bath should help (which may remove glitter from symbols and make hair dry) but I've also had really good luck with a tooth brush and tooth paste. Soaking in hot water first to open up the pores. Good luck

Thanks for all the advice, I'll try a little bit of everything!! I don't want to bait a pony if I don't have to!!
