I got a Glory with beautiful symbols today, but she is pretty yellow. Is there a safe way to whiten her without harming the glitter?

cover her symbols with painter's tape, wrap her hair in tinfoil and stick her in a sunlit window.

i dont recommend tape for glittery symbols
it takes off the glitter :(
i made that mistake with my uk honeycomb

also i found it helps to surround them with mirrors :)

hmm... what about the sticky end of a post-it? it that strong enough to cause damage?

My usual way is to bung the ponies in a pillow case and send them through a white laundry load with normal washing powder and Oxy Clean. How well this works on a REALLY yellowed pony I don't know - I suspect that would be irreversible as it's isn't dirt that's causing the yellowing but an actual physical change. But if the pony is just very dirty and smoozy - this method would work.

However, it does cause damage to glitter symbols and Magic Message ponies. Probably won't do TEs any good either! And you will need to regroom hair so if you have a pony with beautifurl original curls - you'll lose them!

But it perked up my smoozy grubby French Starshine no end - she's now too white too look at!!!

Hi!
I usually use " sun baths" but I've heard something like putting the pony in a plastic box full of water and oxigen water, and leave it under the sun...But I really don't know the quantity of both; water and oxigen water and the time of exposure...

aww could somebody help me? i got a SS gusty toda on the mail and shes so awfully yellow T_T also some of her flock is bit falling and the body under it is yellow too T_T could somebody helo me please

I used whitening toothpaste on some of my ponies. It makes then clean and bright....and minty fresh :icon_evil1:

Heat, oxyclean and abrasives (e.g. toothpaste, bashing in washing machine) will all take of the glitter.

Beware some ponies actually tan not whiten in the sun I know star shine is one of them.

You could maybe try putting oxy clean (vanish oxy action) on your pony as a paste going carefully around symbols with a stiff bristle artist's brush. I tried it but it kept just running off.

Let us know what you discover!

On the topic of using painter's tape to protect symbols, I seem to recall someone (probably relcelestia)'s sunfading tutorial, where they said to basically use 2 layers of tape, with the inner one with the sticky side facing outside, and the outside layer holding it in place. That way the sticky part never touches the glitter.
