What did you just get in the mail?

back to topic:

today, a parcel arrived here, containing a re-usable baking foil. I'm trying to massively reduce waste in our household, so I search for re-usable alternatives in every area. I've found some incredible stuff I had no idea it existed: q-tips made from silicone, vegan waxed cloth as a replacement for cling foil and washable pads as a replacement for cotton wool pads, plus shampoo and conditioner bars (and soap instead of shower gel of course, but that's not a novelty zero-waste product :D).
We've been working more and more on that ourselves. Drusilla has some great products and ideas. Reusable cloth napkins is something my mom always did, we have reusable straws with a little cleaning brush, and of course our compost is doing well.

Please let us know how well the waxed cloth works. It's intriguing.

You're right, I forgot the straws. I bought glass straws a few weeks ago, they're great!

The waxed cloth works fine for veggies like cabbage turnip or celeriac or for covering bowls (I usually cover my soya sour cream with it). In the instructions it says they are not suitable for meat (which we don't have anyway), greasy and hot foods.

The waxed cloth is stiff, but when you touch it it becomes bendable from the warmth of your hands, so you can form it around the bowl, press it down with your hands for a few seconds and it sticks to the bowl quite well.

Haha, my regular gaming group would definitely run away as far as possible if I announced that we're going to play a pony game. :lolpony:

But my best friend who should hopefully return to Switzerland in July (she is the only person I know who's interested in RPG) still has three of her childhood ponies (Masquerade and two fakies), so I reckon she would be willing to play the MLP RPG with me. :D

The G1 games all look very much like children's games: 100% luck, no strategy, basically just roll and move. https://boardgamegeek.com/geeksearch.php?action=search&objecttype=boardgame&q=My little Pony

If you should ever find one that's also suitable for adults please let me know. :)

holy smokes that is a lot of pony board games :surprisepony: i only have 1of them and it stayed wrapped in the paper it arrived in for 10 years before i even opened it

hey that is super cool mail day, i am looking for stuff like that to reduce waste myself. slowly but surely as having 3 little boys does make quite the mess in every regard :rolleyespony: if i get them used to less disposables i hope that they will use that in the future for themselves

I wish I was getting something in the mail but like you two nothing is all I am getting. I am expecting thing in the mail.

Peanuts pennants from the 70's. I love Peanuts, Linus in particular speaks to my soul LOL I am redoing my laundry room in a Peanuts theme and I bought these 2 not realizing just how big they are! I'll put them in there somewhere though. The green one is pristine though I'm not sure how I'm going to hang it just yet, it has no seam or channel for a rod. The previous owner must've used tacks cause there are 2 tiny tack holes in the corners but I'm not sure if that's how I want to hang them. The red one needs some love and I'm not sure what's the best way to clean felt. At some point someone washed it cause it's not as stiff as the green one and has a little shrinkage. The previous owner sewed some black fabric along the very back top edge to insert a rod for hanging and I like that idea but I think it might have been this black fabric that maybe caused the dark line stain going across the middle, maybe it was rolled up in storage? I'm not sure if Shout is safe to use on it, I guess we'll see and then maybe I'll just try to handwash/soak and air dry and iron. Not really sure what else to do.

@Gingerbread - Linus is my favourite too! Probably for the same reasons. I would say start with just a light wash with regular detergent, then try Shout on the staining and see how that goes. To make the fabric more stiff again (once it’s been cleaned) you can use some fabric stiffener on it. It’s available on Amazon but I’m sure you can get it at Joann’s or another fabric type store in the US. I love that your going to “theme” your laundry room, you should share photos when you finish it.

Fabric stiffener, hmm, would this be different from like, starch? Like when you iron and you've got that spray on starch stuff?

I will totally share pics when it's done. It started as just a few cute Peanuts signs I found and snowballed from there. I've just gotta clean this up and find where and how to hang them and sew a curtain with some Peanuts material I got :)
I theme everything, I can't help it. My bathroom is beach, my kitchen is mice, my porch is gnomes, my pony room is....you'll never guess  and most of my house changes with the seasons or holidays. So we'll go through, fall, Halloween, Christmas, Winter (cause that's different from Christmas) and most everything will change out. From the pillows, to bed spreads, shower curtains, regular curtains, even pictures on the wall. You know, now that I say it out loud I might have to admit I have a problem :lolpony:

Starch sounds right. You can always thin it, too.

I love that you decorate for every season. That is so cool! If that's a problem, then here's mine. I love rearranging furniture. I remake each room every few months as the whim hits me. I love furniture and storage way too much, so I trade out the furniture from the room I'm not using....

I got a large Sesshomaru dog demon pop from GameStop.

Obsidi got her chunky knee-high boots.

Waiting on my boyfriend's Mandalorian jacket and Obsidi's Spongebob video game.

Lots of ponies in the post yesterday! They are from a trade and got delayed, but finally they are here. I'll also post them in the different pony colour threads. :D The repro clam shell wasn't included, I bought it beforehand so I could place Seawinkle in it once she arrived, as she doesn't have her own clam shell anymore.
