What appearance do you think G5 ponies will have?

Do you think they'll go for the smaller pony with a flat/shorter-faced look (e.g. G4, G4.5, G3.5), a larger pony with longer faced appearance (G1, G3), a tall and slender appearance for most ponies, (G2), full on horse-mode like the Dream Beauties, or somehow something entirely new? A mixture of previously seen body types?

What style are you hoping for?

Personally I'm hoping for any of the larger sized ponies. I like playing with larger ponies better, and I prefer their appearances. (except for the faces of G2's. I don't know why, but I like quite a lot about G2 ponies except for their faces/heads, which scare me slightly).

As for Dream beauties, I want a return of them, but not as the majority body shape for the ponies, just a special thing they've always been. I think it'd be pretty amusing if they make a short appearance in the G5 show if there is one.

Which style do you think Hasbro will go for?

I thought Pony Life was G5 (or 4.5) from the style change.
Is it not? :surprisepony:

I count it as G4.5 based on this tweet :

which is from apparently the art-director for Pony Life.

Ah, thanks for that confirmation!

To answer your question about what I think it may look just like, I think Hasbro may follow the next style tend for toys whatever that may be. At the moment it seems to be big eyes, big heads and smaller/thinner bodies

Pony Life is considered G4.5 because takes place in the Friendship is Magic world. It uses the same characters. The Pony Life Toys and the new cartoon are really more of a holdover until G5. G5 is (supposedly) coming in 2021 with the new movie. People debated on whether or not pony life was G4.5 or G5 for awhile, but this was the conclusion most people reached. I hope I explained well enough!

I'm hoping for the Mishmash style, i.e SDCC Twilight, Retro Mane Six, Cross-over Ponies with eyeballs that have been fixed to the proper spot.

Unrealistically I hope for G1 and/or G3 moulds.

@kingluke No to the classic unicorn tail. That's begging to be broken and it would take away one of the key play features of MLP , which is brushing and styling.

I would be elated to see them go back to G1 moulds. They’re a better age range than the smaller ponies for playability. But I guess G3 too but I just want new G1’s again. Lol

I’d like to see something new. New designs but more related to a natural horse anatomy. New Unicorn & Pegasus designs would be fantastic but that’s a long stretch. Toy companies with well known brands rarely wander far from something that sells well.

Well Hasbro has done it several times.

G2s don't exactly have an evolutionary cousin. Unless you wanna count SHS I spose?

G3.5/G4 is radically different from G3.

And the Reveal the Magic line it... it doesn't believe in lower jaws.

ETA: Oh! And Dream Beauties were trying to ride on the coat-tails of Fashion Star Fillies.

I know what they'll look like as I've seen the future!

The next generation shall have even shorter muzzles, bigger eyes, and MASSIVE heads, and since no body has a stands a chance to hold up such a gigantic head they shall forgo bodies all together and they shall just be massive heads that float around. The show shall follow these floating heads around as they have adventures, and do things that would require limbs even though they have none.

Sadly, I think Hasbro has turned away from making its good toys. I mean, MLP started because of the toys, and now it's because of the show. Their figures keep getting smaller and smaller as their prices go up. As a kid, I remember going into Toys R Us and finding MLP G3 figures with a brush for around $5. Now, all you find are the tiny G5 or G4.5 figures for $10 or more. If they were bigger, I'd might like them more.

Yeah, but I notice it doesn't stop them from doing better variety and quality with Transformers and they're even bringing back an awesome new G.I. Joe line soon.

At least Basic Fun cares enough to do it right.

True true in Pony Life faces are too distant from horses or unicorn traits, are too in the style of all recent toons with those eyes. But they have hooves, and if in G5 they give them more slender legs ,would agree very well!

Some called the toys G4 and G4.5, somewhere halfway the show Friendship is Magic, they changed the way the toys were made, making them a little different.
Some toy collectors called them G4 toys and G4.5 toys.
Or so I have been told =D

It's all very confusing because the movie ponies are transitional toys as well, since they changed in appearance from the G4s. So I assumed THEY'D be the G4.5s, but then here come the Pony Life and everyone says THEY'RE G4.5 just to confuse and confuddle me!

So to me they're G4, G4Lite and G4Meow I Am a Cat Pony.Nyahhhhhhh! :D
