I'm sorry pony friends. I'm so overwhelmed and simply all over the place. First being threatened, my daughter's things stolen, guns in my home, aggressive people, finding out he had a record, all with my arm getting progressively worse. Now surgery on the eighth of November. Spinal fusion. So scared, yet so hopeful for relief. I rescheduled the entire month. All Wesley's appointments, mine, and Evelyn's. My mother promised that she's going to be able to follow through on taking Evelyn to choir and her psychologist appointment. I'll be able to lift my arms, encouraged to walk after two weeks of healing, and have some help from my caregiver.

What I'm most worried about is that I'm supposed to have an adult in the house with me 24 hours a day for the first few days and overnight for at least a week. My parents just can't do it. Gah! I'm all teary eyed over it.

Thank you. I'm wondering how I'll get through so long without moving my neck, but I realized, I barely move it now. Only while driving or for Evelyn. Otherwise I am used to turning my torso since it's been this way for so long. 19 years. Can you believe it!? My mom and medical records say I was 7 when I started pt for it the first time.

I hope it will be ok

Yay! My aunt is going to come stay with me for five days after my surgery. I'll have help, and I get to see my aunt! :)

Sending good vibes your way!! I hope your surgery goes well and I'm glad you got someone to stay with you. Hopefully it'll get better once you get through this hump! We're all here for ya!

The doctor said that it may be painful for a while, but I should regain use of my arm once I wake from the surgery. No lifting, no moving my head, I'll be using a walker, but the numbness should be gone once they take the pressure off of the nerve. So I'll definitely let you all know how it goes. Thank you! :)

Great news keep us updated if you can

Best wishes to you brave girlie. I am hoping for a speedy recovery. You can do this thing. Glad you have your Aunt to help. Biggest hugs ever. You are one strong girlie so just take your time and heal.

Evelyn confessed last night that she is so very worried. I am, too, but I need to stay positive and strong for her. I just told her that I know we can get through this together. She's worried about getting up, getting breakfast, getting to the bus on time, and how we'll manage making dinner. My caregiver agreed to come over every weekday morning to help with getting her to the bus prepared and on time. Then she'll also make sure we've got something prepared for easy dinner. She's also got to help me with laundry, dishes, and all the cleaning, though, so won't have much time. Only a couple hours a day at most. I don't know how we'll grocery shop. <sigh> We'll do our best and make it through. I just wish I knew what to say to my sweet girl.

I am so glad your aunt will be coming. That'll make it a lot easier. Then Evelyn will have a familiar face. This is going to sound weird.... would it help on days when the caretaker doesn't come if one of us were to call and wake her up, remind her of what she has to do before school? I ask because I don't go to sleep before 8am, I could call and wake her and give her a morning pep talk before school if that would be any assistance.

I can imagine you're worried. I know I would be. If I didn't have Action Hank, I'd really be in trouble when it comes to the surgery. It's not just the animals to worry about, I have a 75 year old aunt living with us. I'd worry about her but thankfully Hank is here and my best friend is just on the farm next door. I'm very fortunate in this.

As for groceries, does your WalMart have that personal shopper thing offered? You could order the food then they load it for you. Then Evee would only have to unload it, and that that wouldn't be too hard.

We do have some stores that I can order online and then have someone pick it up or have it delivered. We'll do that for December and January... hopefully I can shop in February. I also just talked to my case manager and we set up an appointment. After I've been in home for one week after the surgery she is pretty confident that she'll be able to get my caregiver hours doubled for six months. That way my caregiver will be able to help more and get paid. She said she was willing to help extra anyway. So we have a plan. One step at a time. :)

Excellent! Having a plan and being as prepared as you can will definitely help! Maybe you can stock up on easy to eat microwave meals in case you just want something to toss in and cook real quick!
