Can you believe it already? It is just 1 month to go until the big event, so we have put together a daily countdown to whip up your excitement, and get us all raring to go for the big day(s)!

This year, Ponycon 2010, will be hosted at the fabulous 'The Public' in West Bromwich, near Birmingham, just check out the amazing photos!

Ponycon 2010 will take place over 2 days which are:

Members Day - Friday 22nd October
This day is a smaller event than the main day, and is available only to members of the UK Ponycon forum. This day is a great way to meet fellow collectors, and as there are no stalls for shopping, there is ample time to spend time getting to know eachother before the main day as well as have some fun and games along the way!
Members day runs from 10:00am to 16:00pm

Main Day - Saturday, 23rd October
This day is the main event and is open both to collectors and members of the public. There will be plenty of shopping opportunities to help you build you collection, but also games, competitions and panels to keep you entertained! The star event of the day is the Grand Charity Auction, where there are special items for you to bid on to help raise money for our charity, the riding for the Disabled Association.
The Main Day runs from 10:00am to 17:00pm

Lots more information about both days of ponycon will follow in the days leading up to the Convention, so watch this space!

2010 theme - My Little Pony, and Me

2nd place winner of 2010 Mascot Art contest, Sirithfin

Every year, the Committee come up with theme to the Ponycon event, and this year's one is extra special - My Little Pony and Me! This year, we want to celebrate the collectors and fans that make the My Little Pony Community, and share their stories, expertise and love for our favourite toys!

A number of this year's events have been prepared to tie in with the theme this year, and we want you to all get involved!

Sharing Stories - this informal chat panel on Members Day will see collectors sharing their cherished childhood memories of My Little Pony!

Custom Comp - a special category this year asks customisers to create a pony that represents them as a person, and we can't wait to see the entries!

Panels and Demos - there will be more panels than ever this year, allowing members of the community to share their knowledge and experience, and giving people a chance to ask questions, share their ideas, and try new techniques!

Childhood photo quiz - this fun quiz shares your childhood photos and challenges you to guess which of the sweet cuties grew up to be which adults!

Our fantastic venue with also be decorated with some fab displays to tie in with our theme!

We hope that you will have a great time enjoying our theme this year, and that it turns out to be a special year for everyone!​

28 Days to Ponycon!

Introducing our chosen charity for 2010, the:

Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA)
Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving

UK Ponycon is proud to be supporting the RDA for a second year running, and we look forward to giving them a warm welcome during the event. Profits raised by Ponycon will go to the RDA, towards helping them provide horse riding and driving experience to disabled children and adults across the UK!

Here is a little more about the work of the RDA...

In 2009, RDA celebrated 40 years of delivering opportunities for therapy, achievement and enjoyment to people with disabilities. Founded as a national organisation in 1969, RDA now has 500 member groups across the UK, and together these groups help 23,000 people to take part in riding, carriage driving and vaulting activities.

RDA give individuals the opportunity to:

Reach therapeutic goals - improve muscle tone and posture, develop fine and gross motor movement

Achieve personal ambitions - sit on a horse for the first time, learn new skills, win a Paralympic medal!

Combat social isolation - build relationships, enjoy events and competition, develop self confidence

Develop life skills - improve communication, take responsibility, be a team player

Experience the outdoors - ride in the countryside, access rural britain

Connect with animals - bring positivity and optimism, adding a bnew element to life


The RDA will have a special stand at the convention on the main day, why not spend a few minutes with them and find out more about the fantastic work that they do. They also have a special exclusive Breyer horse available for sale, and other goodies too, so please give generously!

26 Days to Ponycon!

Members Day Event - Pinch the Parcel!

This mischievious game has become an annual favourite at Ponycon, and we will be running it again on Members Day. A variant of 'pass the parcel', the players use the roll of a dice to distribute gifts around the circle of players, and then keep rolling against the clock, hoping they will roll the magic number, allowing them to 'pinch' a present from someome else! When the time runs out - you get to keep whatever presents are in front of you!

If you are attending members day and wish to play this fun game, you will need to bring 2 good quality, MLP-themed wrapped presents of no more than £5 in value each

25 Days to Ponycon

Members Day: Cakey Bakey

Cakey Bakey has now become a first Members Day favourite, since it was introduced on Members Day 2007. This year, we will once again be running this baking competition, and challenge you to come up with a delicious and beautiful baked creation to impress and delight our members!

All you need to do is to bring a cake (or cakes) you have baked yourself along to Members Day. The cakes can be of any type and on any theme, cakes catering for food allergies are also very welcome!

The cakes will be made available for tasting over lunch on members day, and the winner will be decided by a vote from all the members. The winning cake will receive a certificate and a prize!

We can't wait to see (eat) your wonderful creations!

24 Days to Ponycon!

Members Day - Speed Drawing & Customising

This creative challenge has been part of the Members Day programme for 2 years now, and this year once again we will be challenging artists both novice and experienced to draw or customise a pony in just 1 hour!



Speed Drawing
Artists have just 1 hour to draw a pony of their choice on an A4 sheet of paper. Paper and a limited supply of pens pencils etc will be available however, we suggest you may wish to bring your own pens, pencils, chalks, crayons, pastels or even charcoal!

Speed Customising
Artists have just 1 hour to customise a pony from scratch. Starting with a prepared bait (cleaned, with head, symbol and hair removed), we challenge custom artists to create a beautiful custom pony! Unfortunately, we are unable to supply any materials for this event, therefore if you wish to take part you will need to bring your own materials and kit! Water in a cup can be provided for painting.



2 1-hour slots (morning/afternoon) will be available in which to create your masterpiece. You may choose which slot you use to create your entry, but you will not be able to use both! The slots run at the same time as other events, so check out the Members Day programme on the day to decide which you'd rather attend.

The winners of both competitions will be decided by a vote from our members, and both winners will receive a certificate and a prize!

23 Days to Ponycon!

Members Day: Ponycon Grand Prix

Rev up those engines and pull down your visors, this is a full-on pony motoring challenge! Pairs of ponies and scooters will race in heats, with the first ponies past the finish line being entered into a spectacular race-off to decide the final Grand Prix champion!

To take part, you need to bring a G3 pull-back scooter and a pony to ride it. The scooter doesn't have to be customised for the race, but if you would like to customise it, you can enter it into the 'Ponycon Pimp My Ride' competition on the Main Day!

4 Players are needed per race, with a maximum of 16 Players in the whole competition. We already have 6 players signed up, so 10 more places are available! If you would like to sign up for this event, please PM Jemofirongate!

22 Days to Ponycon!
Members Day: Ponycon Swap Box

Remember the Ponycon Swap Box? Well this year for the first time, the Swapbox will make an appearance on Members Day! The swapbox is a great way to trade small value items,and gain new ponies and accessories for your collection, or perhaps a gift for a friend of loved one!

How it works:
The Swapbox will be available throughout Members Day, and will start with a few selected MLP items of £5 or less in value. During the day, Members are welcome to visit the Swapbox, and take an item from it, replacing it with another item of their own £5 or less in value.

The Rules
Each Member will only be able to make one visit to the box and take 1 item only, to give everyone the opportunity to join in the fun
There will be a swapbox Visitors Book, everyone using the swapbox must write down the item they are taking/leaving and a short message
The items must be MLP, but any generation is fine, including accessories and merchandise
Please make sure that the items you give are clean and in good condition, ask yourself - would I be happy to receive this?

Don't forget to bring a item for the Swap Box to Members Day if you would like to take part!

21 Days to Ponycon

Members & Main Day: Ponycon Panels

Following the popular success of the live panels and demos in 2009, this year we are looking to expand the number and variety of sessions on offer to provide interesting, informative and hands-on fun for our guests on both Members Day and the Main Day!

If you would like to present or take part in a panel on the Main Day or Members Day, please PM Jemofirongate, with a brief outline of what you would like to present, and whether you will be available on just the Main Day or both days.




We are particularly interested in recruiting speakers on the following subjects:

- 2-4 collectors for an informal chatshow panel sharing childhood stories and memories - no prep required! Note - Members day only.

- 2-4 artists for a panel demonstrating hand drawing of ponies, where our guests can have a go too!

- Customisers, demonstrating techniques for guests to try out on some bait, such as re-hairing, painting eyes or symbols.

- Restorers, who can diagnose common MLP condition problems, and techniques for prevention and cure.

- Crafty people who can lead a workshop showing guests how to make a MLP-themed crafty item in 30 mins - and take it home with them!

Or anything else you can think of!


What you need to know about our panels:
- Each panel slot is a maximum of 30 minutes
- Each panel may be run twice, at different times, to allow us to run different panels simultaneously
- A separate room with tables and chairs will be provided for hosting the panel
- If you are presenting you will need to ensure that you are prepared before the session begins, and bring all materials you may need. If you are having any difficulty or need particular facilities for your talk, please contact Jemofirongate and we may be able to help
- Some of the Main Day volunteer team will be assigned to assist presenters in preparation for the panel sessions if you feel you need an extra pair of hands!

Please help us to make PonyCon extra special this year, by sharing your expertise with fellow members of the MLP collecting community!

This year we have some fabulous games in store for you to enjoy on the Main Day. These always prove popular with convention goers, whether you like to take part, or you just prefer to watch the excitement unfold!
If you take part in one of our fun games, you could also win a prize as a memento of the day!

All sign-ups will be taken on a first come, first served basis.
If all the required places are filled, a limited number of reserves will be taken however there is no guarantee that reserves will be called up to take part

Ponycon Mr & Mrs

Based on the popular gameshow of the same name, couples compete in an entertaining My Little Pony themed question and answer game to find out if they really do know each other as well as they think they do!
For this game we need 4 couples. 'Couples' also extends to any two people who are very close, so for example, best friends and siblings could also take part.
Places Need - 1 reserve couple only


Ponycon 'Who Dares Wins'

Based on the National Lottery gameshow of the same name, randomly selected teams of 2 compete in a battle of pony knowledge, and keeping cool under pressure! Teams bid to identify a number of ponies from an identified group. Meet your bid and you win; fail and the other team takes the round from you!
For this game, we need 8 Players. The players will be randomly organised into 4 pairs which will be revealed at the start of the game, so you won't know who you will be partnered with!
Places Needed: 1, and 1 reserve

Custom Competition: 'MLP & Me' Theme Category
This competition is for customised ponies of any generation. The theme is 'MLP and Me', so we challenge customisers to use their skills to create a pony that represents them as a person.

Custom Competition: 'Hasbro-Inspired' Theme Category
This competition is for customised ponies of any generation. The theme is 'Hasbro inspired' so we challenge customisers to create a pony that is based on the MLP toy line.

Custom Competition: Open Category
This competition is for customised ponies of any generation, on any theme - anything goes!

Custom Competition: Custom Playset/Scene
This competition is to create a unique custom scene or customised playset on any theme, inhabited by at least one pony of your choice. The pony does not have to be a custom, the entries are judged on the scene, not the ponies.

The Rules
This is not strictly a customising competition. We simply challenge collectors to creatively and fiendishly 'destroy' a fakie pony(ies) in any darkly humorous manner of their choosing. Entries will be judged on the creativity of the manner of destruction, humorous entries are also a hit with the judges!

All of the entries to this competition will be kept in a defined area so that parents can steer their children away if necessary.

Custom ponies are not permitted as entries to this competition. This category is for MLP themed 2D and 3D art. Photography, paintings, collage, drawings and sculptures are all examples of suitable entries for this category. As this year's theme is 'MLP and Me' we would particularly like to see entries of Self Portraits of you and a favourite Pony! If you are unsure if your entry is suitable for the 'Art' or 'Crafts' category, please PM Jemofirongate for guidance

MLP Crafts Competition
Custom ponies are not permitted as entries to this competition. This category is for MLP themed crafts in any media. Hats, clothing, jewellery, fabric items, cushions, fiction, poems, plushie toys, embroidery, knitting etc. are all examples of suitable entries for this category. Main Day: Fashion Show!

The Ponycon Fashion Show has been a highlight of the Main Day of the Convention ever since the first Ponycon in 2004. This year, we look forward once again to seeing the fantastic costumes on display!

There is no particular theme this year, so anything goes! Perhaps you could dress up as your favourite pony? Perhaps a non-pony character from the cartoon TV series, a longed-for Nirvana pony, or even your pony persona!

To be in with a chance of winning a prize for your Costume, we ask just a £1 donation to ponycon, the proceeds of which will be donated to our chosen charity, the Riding for the Disabled Association

So get out your sewing machines, fabric paints and fun fur, put on your thinking caps, and lets see what fantastic creations you can come up with!

Main Day: Restoration Competition

Following the fantastic entries received to the beauty contest & restoration category in 2009, we have decided to make this contest just for restoration, to showcase thr many talents of our members at cleaning and restoring ponies to their former glory!!

The Rules
Custom ponies are not permitted as entries to this competition. This category is to showcase restoration projects and restored ponies entered in this category must be accompanied by a photo in their 'before' restoration state. Judging will be based on how closely the pony appears how it would have looked as new.

So, with just 2 weeks left to go, there is still time to take that poor, dirty bald pony with scratched symbols, patch her up, and make her a star! Don't forget to take photos 'before' and 'after'!
