I've been using it for a while now, to remove rust stains from the ponies tails. I haven't heard of anyone else use this? I've only used it on bait ponies at this point, and it doesn't change hair texture? It hasn't damaged the plastic. So what do you guys think? Is it a bad idea? Good idea? Unknown?

I've only used it on one pony and had a little success because I was unsure as well. I used it only the base of a tail and the washer at the recommending of my husband who uses it to remove rust from the cars he sells. It didn't change the hair texture but didn't remove all the rust either unfortunately. However, it did help it a lot. She went from a very rusty tail to having a little bit of rust. I kept her to watch and see if anything changes on her in the future (hair color/texture/etc.)

Good idea. I soaked it, but I only use it when I take the washer out. Glad it worked for you! I'd use toothpaste but that can be sticky. Good that there's a couple of things to try.

I’ve only herd about rust remover on rusty BBE ponies, with most people getting great resulta AFAIK.

The reason I didn't remove the washer was because I wanted to get the rust off of her tail and tail hole, too, as well as get the rust off the washer so I left it attached to her tail. I also tried to get it off her mane plugs. She was pretty rusty. She went from a lot of rust to a little bit. Her washer went from really rusty to a little bit. I really wish Hasbro would have used stainless steel.

I use a brand called Purple Power; it seems to work well & I haven't noticed any changes in hair texture. I get it from my local Advance Auto.
