Any experienced sellers have some advice on which times of year generally sell higher or lower? Other than holiday specific ponies that seem to go up in the month before their holiday. I'm having so much trouble selling anything right now. Especially with the rising shipping costs. It seems that nobody is willing to pay more than $1 for a g4, $2 for a g3, $1 for a g3.5, .50 for g4.5, $5 for g2, and $5 for g1. Unless they're rare. Even then they are going for less than usual.

Aren't we in that time when sales go down because the holidays are over and then they pick up again in April? It seems that there is a quiet period for ponies a couple times a year and I think we are in one now. The other issue is the best sellers are the more rare ones, Nirvana, Mail Order and UK ponies. Basic G1 ponies do sell quite low these days unless they are moc. Your money is in the Twinkle Eye group, the Taf group, and those food themed ones. I forget the name of the group. There is money in most wingers just maybe not flutters except for a couple. Also the Glow n Shows and the Glitter group. For babies the babies that come with a friend like Fleecy and so on sell well. Oh and the last group of Princess ponies. For the most part many of the others besides sea ponies are just too common. Oh and a couple of the MGR ponies sell nicely where the others not so much. So, if you have sold everything from these groups and you have like unicorns, pegasus and earth ponies it may just be the lack of need for these. No swaps going on right now in ponyland. I would watch for those and then be ready as someone may need what you have then. Spring may be a better time as people are past the holidays of not having any money and ready to by again. lol

I'm trying not to sell my set of te. I have the complete set. The glitter ponies, too. Otherwise I'm only keeping babies and customs. We have a few sweetheart sisters that are Evelyn's. Oh, keeping my incomplete sets of wingers and flutters. The flutters aren't worth too much and my wingers are flawed so not high priced. I'm still hanging on to hopscotch, gypsy, and honeycomb because I love them. The g2 babies don't draw much. G3's I'd mostly be giving away... the g4's are actually Evelyn's, too. I have some e.g. and eah dolls, but they don't have much monetary value. All told I'm down to about 200 ponies including customs and e.g. Evelyn sold most zelfs, unicornos and even more mh. She's down to under 80.

I really do think the time of year is effecting prices, plus, like I said, shipping increase. I'll just keep listing until May if I have to. Thanks for the input @tulagirl (#5 needs input) lol

We are definitely in that time of year where pony sales have slowed down. Sales will pick up a little bit as people are getting their tax refunds in the U.S., but expect it to be quiet until spring/summer.

Thanks. I'm used to being the buyer, so selling is difficult.

I always have to save my tax refund for our property taxes the following year. I never get to spend a tax refund check. Boy that would be something if I could but taxes are so high these days for a house.

hey @Tak what does this mean?

The movie short circuit. "#5 is alive" I laugh at my own jokes. ;)

I’ve wondered this myself. Every time I sell ponies I end up having to list them lower than what I paid, mainly mib G4 but that’s probably because of shipping. But even when I try to sell other ponies I never get a good price for them and end up letting them go for less than I wanted just to get them out of the house.

New to the site so I haven't done pony sales yet but from my own business experience and my mom's eBay book and antique business, this is the slow season all around. As bluerose9978 said, tax refunds come back with the warmer weather in April. You might see an inch of movement after Valentine's Day but Jan-March is hard for most businesses, restaurant or otherwise to get people to spend money. I always find Sept-Nov to be the best time to eBay stuff. Everyone is back on their computers and not at the beach, fiscal year starts Oct 1 so business coffers are full and there's that feeling of ennui in the air as fall starts making impulse shopping harder to resist. That being said, if you having any money in Jan-March, great time to pick up some deals and do some shopping for yourself!

Yea this is when I like to shop on ebay because, I have less competition on stuff and can get deals. I admit it.

I just wish I could shop. We got food, though, so this is good.

Here in the UK sales seem to dip during summer. I've gotten some amazing deals during the summer months that I haven't even come close to getting before, for example, I was recently watching a Gusty on eBay. She had no horn, her back leg was badly damaged and she'd had a serious hair cut. In the end she went for £18, I was seriously in shock!

The best deal I've ever been able to get on eBay was on a mint condition Seashell. I payed £3.50 (inc postage) for her back in august 2014 :)

Ditto I wish I could shop for ponies but im in dire straights right now. :/ this is the first year I hit "pony" bottom. (er not what anyone thinks I dont look at pony's bottoms.) :p I hope in April or so I will be able to.

Sweet deal! Way to go!

Is Gusty really worth that much? I see a couple for $15 on ebay right now.

Unless you are buying a lot or looking for one specifically in a certain condition, eBay does inflate costs. They take 10% for every sale and it adds up quick for sellers. If you do buy eBay, I recommend checking out the seller's stats, and asking lots of questions, to make sure that you know you're getting something that you can live with. Some sellers are excellent, some do their best to take advantage. Just be cautious.

ebay prices are usually inflated prices of common ponies.

Especially from sellers who know nothing about ponies, shockingly. They do underprice the htf sometimes.
