Let the creepiness begin... um fun yeah fun begin.

Is it permissible to go by actual money spent on the budget? I'm not talking about sending ponies I already have and counting them as $0 to the budget. I just found an amazing deal and would love to take it.

If the value is lower than the swap amount...

I usually go by value because some ponies are like worth only say 8.50 whether you pay 29.99 for a nice one. If the swap is set at 20.00-30.00 that would be way under the swap value. This is the way I have always done swaps. Bluerose9978 has a great value chart for G1's. Now if it is a G3 I go by what I spend if it is in a box and correctly priced and the same with a G4 if I find it in a store. If I have to buy a g4 online I go by what its Hasbro retail value is, not what I spent online. @Tak

Now for the opposite...The pony value is higher than the swap amount but you got a deal...

Now I have gotten deals on expensive G1's where their value was higher than the swap amount and I bought them anyway at the lower amount lol. So, I feel in that case what you spend is fair and perfectly okay. Like you could get lucky and that is the fun thing about swaps. I'll tag a Mod to see what they say too.

@Gingerbread

Swap values give me fits because, I am one that loves to shop. lol

I would say if you found a good deal, like a typically valued 30.00 pony that you happened to snag for 10.00 then that is acceptable and since it is a higher value pony if you wanted to spend a little less on extras that would be at your discretion. So long as the value of the ponies and extras equal about the budget that is fair.
If we're talking about the other way around, there have been times I have had doubles which happened to be on my partners wishlist which saved me from having to buy and I went by the value of the pony in my budget (usually leaning a little towards the lower end) just because I personally felt like it since I didn't have to go out shopping and all.
In general you want everyone to feel like they got at least what they put into it and if you go over budget just keep that in mind and don't have higher expectations, if that makes sense. I don't think anyone has ever complained about someone doing more then they're required so all, in all I think you'll be fine and woo hoo to your partner for having a deal-snagging secret swapper ;)

Thank you @Gingerbread and @tulagirl , too. I've only overpaid once for a swap and ended overspending since the pony's value was lower. I have enough time to look for deals, thank goodness!

Several stores have their Halloween stuff out, but get this. They have their Christmas stuff out too. So they have selected small end caps or one half an isle only for Halloween. They have drastically reduced their Halloween merchandise in order to maximize on their Christmas sales. Store managers say what is out is all they have for this season. I have never seen this happen. So, we have all three holidays out all at once in September. Ugggg I don't like the stores that are just based on Halloween. They give me the creeps. I can't even walk in those places without feeling like I am going to pass out. But....I did find something pretty neato at one place that I keep forgetting to add to my "go to" for extras stores. I am not even going to bother with Target until after October 1st. Experience in the past has shown me that the shelves are pretty yucky at Target during September when it comes to Halloween stuff. They are the slowest store in my area to get ready and probably the only one that will have multiple isles. I don't go to Walmart much so I don't know what is happening over there yet.

I don't do Wal-Mart much either. Too agoraphobic. I agree with your target assessment, too. My best go-to's here are Walgreen's, Fred Meyer, and bi-mart. Luckily we have some awesome local stores, too.

I've noticed the Christmas take-over too. There was one small isle of Halloween in a store I went to and 2 isles of Thanksgiving and 3 of Christmas! C'mon people! I love Christmas too but it's not even October yet, don't rush Halloween away!

I have 2 items for my partner! Partner do you have any pets, and may I spoil them?

Walmart is ok. They do have multiple aisles split with autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving things and no Christmas stuff yet thanks goodness! Walmart has some super cute autumn items like towels with owls and foxes on them.

Our Target already has a decent amount out in their holiday shop area and the dollar area.

I hit up Walmart, Target, Michaels, and TJMaxx for holiday stuff. I crossed Gordmans off my list for good today. Since they declared bankruptcy, merchandise is scant and they have hugely reduced holiday items and toys. Hobby Lobby has quite a bit of stuff too but it doesn't ever seem to be the right stuff. It's more art/craft/floral.

Living in the middle of no where mean I have to order my partners items. Or go hunting for older ponies if that is the case. But our walmart has a good Halloween section for candy and other treats. I just hate looking for Halloween items and BOOM theres a gaint spider prop right there. I really really hate that.

Yea they have had some pretty big spiders out this year. I think they are for the yard so people can see them from the street. The stuff of nightmares for poor Ology. I don't mind the spiders so much. One time this neighbor that is an artist made a sculpture of a massive over 8 feet tall Reaper with a green glowing face. I couldn't go down that part of the street for two months because, he just never wanted to take it down. It was horrid. baaaa

We use to have a Michaels and a Hobby Lobby and then they moved. Now I can't get out to the part of town they are in. Too far away for me to drive with my pain levels like they are. If R2 is able he takes me.

As far as pets go, all of my pets have too many things as it is so, I would say don't worry about the pets. Yuki needs another toy like he needs another snack.

I've been shopping!! I got most of my extras I think and I got a couple things coming in the mail and I'm waiting on an auction this weekend before I make my final purchases then it'll just be waiting on stuff to arrive and wrapping it all up! I'm trying to get ahead of the game because we do secret pals at work and we do BOO in the neighborhood so I needed lots of Halloween goodies!! I still can't get over how much Christmas is already out though. I love Christmas but it's kinda freaking me out!!

Me too, I have most of my extras and am waiting for something to come in the mail. I am not ready for the Christmas stuff at all. This is way too early. It is still 90 degrees outside. R2 says the reason everything is out is that retail is hurting so much they are trying to pull people in to bring money to the stores. Online businesses have just taken so many profits away from stores that they are struggling. He feels that the typical shopper will buy on impulse because it is there. I am not that kind of shopper. I only shop when I need something and rarely come out of a store with something that wasn't on my list. He says the stores are banking on the other type of shopper, that shops to shop.

Is everyone else having a great time shopping?! (Squee!) Now I get to find wrapping and extras while I wait on shipping. So exciting!

I am still working on ponies. I have one that I had as an extra from accidentally buying doubles. I have a couple Halloween items. I am being picky I guess.
