MLPMerch spotted a new character, that is so far exclusive to the Walmart seaquestria castle set. I hope she pops up as a single brushable later on. Her name is Haven Bay. So lovely! Must have!!

More like stupid Hasbro and their penchant for packing playset exclusives with their most expensive sets.

I know especially when you already have the castle. Like last year and the crystal castle. One did not have shinning armor.
Only reason I got a second castle was my niece accidently broke my first one.

You know? It looks like she's stepping on her own tail. Poor Haven. :lolpony:

I want a tempest storm bab and her armor the songbird is cuter then I though.

updated the pic and fixed her bangs last night to make them flat with water and a blow dryer on high heat :D

I can't wait! I've already got the tickets. Yeah, I'll most likely bring my Princess Skystar. I really want Tempest, but she's sold out where I live.

There was a leak and I kinda have already seen the movie. Still plan to see it in the theater.

No spoiler but it's awsome.

For everyone going to see it, have fun.

Watching the My Little Pony: The Movie, I honestly feel like it was a jigsaw of a jumbled mess. While I appreciated the fact that the ponies were getting out of their element, and being forced to explore outside the borders of Equestria, I really wish the show had taken this opportunity first. And while I still hold out a small amount of hope that that will happen on the small screen, at the same time, I fear that it might not happen, now that it has happened on the silver screen.

I also feel like there were too many unessesary characters crammed into the movie, and they really didn’t serve any real purpose to serve the plot. Let’s start with Grubber. I see the need for comic relief, but the staff had accomplished that with Pinkie Pie and even Rarity at times, with her overdramatic antic at inappropriate times, such as her admiring her reflection in a mirror as her and her friends plummet to their potential death out of the sky, and when she’s climbing Aris Mountain and dramatically collapsing, saying she can’t go on. I feel like the only reason Grubber was put in the movie was to make cake and pie jokes that weren’t even funny. Aside from that, he didn’t really serve a purpose.

Then there’s the entire race of seaponies….excuse me, Hippogriffs. Celestia told Luna to go find them and ask for help before she got turned to stone, but when the Mane6 and Spike found them….they didn’t really do anything. They told their story about how they had to go into hiding underwater and changed themselves with a magic orb, but they initially didn’t want to help the outsiders, changed the mane 6 into seaponies for no real reason except to connect with Princess Skystar in filler scenes, and in the end, none of the seaponies lifted a fin to help save the day in the end. Why were the ponies turned into mermares if it didn’t actually serve the plot? Why can say? Just to have a new friend on their side, who doesn’t do anything, and will be forgotten and never brought up again, I suppose.

At the very least, Capper served a real purpose. While he initially befriended the mane 6 to settle his debts, which were quickly glossed over in the movie and never explored, he later turns over a new leaf and at least tried to throw Tempest off the trail of the Mane6 when they part ways.

Aisde from that, many characters are really hit with the idiot brick in this movie. Namely, Rainbow Dash. While it is admirable that she was able to rally together an entire gang of pirates to be awesome again, it was completely reckless of her- knowing full well that a villain was on their tail- to make her and her friends targets by pulling off that rainboom. Given all the adventures she’s been on, all the danger that her and her friends have been in, this was her dumbest, most idiotic moment in the movie, and completely out of character for her.

The same could be said for Twilight- namely her attempted theft of the Hippogriff/ Seaponie’s magic orb. She’s been through Sunset Shimmer stealing her crown, Tirek stealing everypony’s magic, Spike stealing for his dragon hoard- she knows full well that stealing is wrong, and yet she tries to justify it by saying the rules don’t apply outside of Equestria. What the actual bloody buck?! If that was the case, Sunset should still have her crown and element of harmony, since the mirrorverse/ human world isn’t technically Equestria! What did she think she was going to do with the orb once she stole it?! Go all the way back to Equestria, thinking she wouldn’t get caught in all that time, and change everypony into seaponies? And then what? With no plan going in and what she’d do after the fact- IF she managed to get that far- this was, BY FAR Twilight’s idiot moment. And then to have the gall, the buckin’ audacity to say that she’d be better off without her friends after that…. buck you, Twilight. Buck. You. 7 years of friendship, friendship lessons, a friendship title, and to say crap like this. No. That doesn’t fly, and she never should’ve been forgiven or rescued by the remane5 and Spike. Desperation doesn’t warrant that. You can’t justify that on the back of everything FiM had done and build Twilight up to be, both with and to her friends.

It irks me to see that Twilight’s way of thinking “this is my responsibility, so it’s all on me” had infected her from the very start of the movie. She’s hesitant to rely on her friends to help her, even before the very first song “We got this together” starts playing. You can see it in her face, as plain as day, as she’s looking at her friends, who insist that she has them to help set up the festival. Though she has relied on her friends countless times before, to get the job done, and knows full well from experience that she can’t go up against a villain alone and expect to win (when she tried it with Tirek and epicly failed), she still carries that mindset throughout the entire movie. It only became more apparent after being conned by Capper that she felt like she couldn’t trust anyone but herself to rely on- especially after some of her own friends acted in ways that would put them in danger- such as Pinkie and her loud mouth being inconspicuous in the Klugetown marketplace, Rarity and the rest of the gang being quick to trust Capper, and Rainbow Dash alerting the villains to their location with her ill-timed sonic rainboom. With all those strikes against them, it’s no wonder she chose to get them out of the way with Princess Skystar, so they wouldn’t get her into trouble as she tried to steal the Hipogriff turned seaponies’ magic orb. Though really unjustified on the back of all those friendship lessons and adventures she’d had before with them, I can still see her reasoning.

On the other hoof, Tempest, who has long been set in her way of thinking to not trust or rely on anyone else since foalhood, actually has worked for her. As she sang in her villanous song “Open Up Your Eyes”, it was a mistake to rely or depend on anyone in Equestria or in any other land. Yet her own folly was trusting that her superior would restore her broken horn after she had given him what he wanted. Like the Storm King, her downfall was herself, and this really bugs be because through the majority of the movie, we SEE her being competent, getting the job done of immobilizing 3 out of the 4 Princesses without any help and without her horn. We SEE her being competent in staying on the Mane 6’s trail and capturing Twilight through her own persistence and ruthlessness, without help and without her horn. She had WON. All that was needed was to doublecross the Storm King at the last minute, turn him to stone while he was powerless, and magic up the staff, herself to restore her horn. But she betrayed her own song and beliefs and relied on the Storm King, instead, to give her what she wanted, which was disappointing.

A lot of the songs were forgettable, but “I’m the Friend You Need” by Taye Diggs, and “Time to Be Awesome” eventually became earworms.

All in all, I was left pretty sour and disappointed by the movie, though I don’t think that it was SO bad that its not worth returning to watch once in a while. There were a few little gems that sparkled within it- such as the worldbuilding (although fast-paced), backgrounds, many of Capper, Rarity, and Spike’s moments (I really like that Spike went from being used as a lighter, back in “Apple Family Reunion” to a blowtorch for a hot air balloon and a flamethrower in the movie, to roast some bad guy backside), and Fluttershy’s counseling one of the ‘storm troopers’ who’s crying hysterically was pretty epic.

That said, if you’re a fan of the show, then I advise you to see the movie. As with anything, it has its weak points, but it also has its highlights too. Its not perfect, by any means, but it was ok. A few nice songs, a few funny moments here and there…..there are definitely worse things out there than this. At the least, its a nice way to spend 99 minutes escaping away from all the horrible and depressing news of reality occurring around the world to watch cute pastel ponies off on adventures
