Teachers are on strike

Cutting out sex-ed is a mistake. Putting so much money into sports is a mistake. They cut music and art is taught on a volunteer only basis.

On a high note, my daughter loves her teacher this year. She truly wants to work with the gifted, unique kids and it shows. She has such patience and a wonderfully upbeat, positive attitude. I don't feel like I need to worry about my daughter getting yelled at or feeling left out this year.

Oh, and @evilbunnyfoofoo it would be awesome to have some cleric healers. I'm on ssdi and I have been for long enough that I get Medicare. Since we get so little, the state pays most of my copays and co-insurance. My daughter is fully covered by the state. So, physical medical is almost all covered. It's mental, dental, vision, and the doctors that I need to go to Portland to see that are problematic. Either way, I don't really think the could make my arm worse. It's not the pain, you know, I can handle that. It's the wrong feeling and knowing that something is wrong in there that's most worrisome.

I'd way rather the kids have actual classes like music, art and sex ed and leave sports to just a recess or gym class. I was in sports (track and soccer) myself, but I did it to up my chances at scholarships. I really garnered nothing from them otherwise. Sure you learn teamwork, but you can learn teamwork in science class working an experiment in a group. Sports single out certain kids to become popular not for talent or personality but for their place on a team. Football players don't even have to win, they just have to have that jersey. Schools love them because football generates money: ticket sales, t-shirt sales and grants from the government. Cha ching!

But I'm not bitter or anything. :D

It isn't the pain! I was just telling my friend that. It's the loss of mobility and potential loss of independence. That's scary. I appreciate that my son is willing to stay here on the farm and help me, but he has a life. One day he might want to leave! I HAVE to get back on my feet and work. I HAVE TO.

It makes me mad that health care is at such a premium when we have money to send to countries that hate us. I think we should have at least the beginnings of socialized medicine and if people want to opt out, fine. But we're a rich country. People should at least get elementary health care without having to go hungry to do it.

True story, my friend was dying of cancer and his emergency medicare (or medicaid, I dunno which) ran out. They wanted to kick him out of the hospital while he was DYING. A church had to come in and promise to help pay his bill. I mean, what kind of monsters throw out a dying man? A hospital that cares about profit over patients. Disgusting. I still get so mad. I'm just glad he was too far gone to know what was happening. We just cried and cried. I'll forever be grateful to the kid people who rushed in to help.

So sad and so true. It seems that those in power really don't care about the country or the children's education. It's all about the money and how much they have. :(

My thoughts exactly. Sometimes I wonder what it was like to live in the “ancient times” before politics were involved in everything. I’m sure we’d go back to like prehistoric times but still...

I’m so tired of hearing about politics in one way or another every night on the news. Our world is becoming more and more sad and scary.

I concur. I try to avoid it unless necessary. Plus, I couldn't go back to no indoor plumbing.

My horror forum just had to ban a guy who turned every movie discussion into a political thing. Every stinkin' movie, he saw something political in it.

I'd hate to live in his world.

Me, three. Let's talk about cute ponies and puppies instead.
:winkpony:

I gots no puppies right ow, but I have four cute little kittens. Three orange, one yellow. They're really small for their age, but I have high hopes they will do well.

Now I want puppies.

Kittens are good, too! I used to have and orange and cream tabby that was half Persian and all poof. Him and his brother were excellent hunters. He was almost 25 pounds and no fat. I think he had some maine coon in his background. So big! He was my first kitten. :ponylove:
The only reason I won't get cats now is that my ocd and litter boxes don't agree with each other.. It's not really safe to have a dog door either, and I wouldn't want them stuck outside for any extended time. Raccoons, big rats, opossum, and other (not fixed!) cats. We hear cat fights outside at night all the time.

My cat love the porch just like his elder years laying in the sun.

We had an orange tabby when I was little. His name was CJ (Cat Junior) and we had a grey tabby her name was TC (The Cat). My parents are responsible for those names. Lol

I miss my cat, Carlisle. I had to give him up because he affected my allergies in a horrible way. All very injections wouldn’t even work. So he lives with my brother now. He is the most handsome long haired brown tabby.

He’s more dog than cat though. I got him from a woman who rescued him from a feral colony by our major airport. And he was Zephyr’s cat. They loved each other so much. For sure a tag team of Carlisle jumping on the counters and knocking food down for him and Zephyr to eat. Lol He apparently still does that.

All my animals ended up acting similarly dog like. Every single one that I raised. Lambs, chickens, ferrets, cats, a pony, and, of course, dogs. Something in the way I communicate with and interact with them, they all shared a similarly laid back, relaxed, let me do anything to them.

My cat gave birth to her first litter on my bed. I was on my side and she chose to jump up and curl close to my belly even though you could tell that labor was already hurting. I just stroked her the whole time. Another of my cats wasn't feeling well and he came and sat on my lap for love, then a blood clot in a main artery made him spasm. He went himself and i still have scars on my tricep from the last time he moved his back legs. Oh, and I was the one to find my pony at the beginning of her labor. I was the only one she let in the corral for most of it. I also convinced the broody bantam hen to take the day old full size chicks as her own.

I think the animals know that i like them more than ppl. Except maybe squirrels.

I love squirrels. My mom is mad at me because I bought squirrels and chipmunk feed to put into out bird feeder. (It’s one that hold 4 hangers, 4 suet, has a bird bath and a flat feeder.) I put food in the flat feeder for the squirrels (because they eat the seed there anyhow) and my mother was not happy to see what I did today. :D I just looked her dead in the face and said “winter is coming, we must be ready for the battle ahead.” She didn’t find it as funny as I do.

It's not that I hate them. They are just extremely overpopulated.

Lol I probably should’ve been more clear. I never thought you hated them. ;)
My mom however hates them for eating her bird food. I love them. But I’m weird and I love rodents. I miss having my pet rats, been thinking about adopting a couple.

Rats are actually quite smart and make good first time pets. I just dislike cleaning cages and the lack of veterinary medicine for them is appalling.

Rats are wonderful first time pets. But yes I do agree, there isn’t enough vets willing to look at little cuddle friends.
