Yeah...that's normal. She's probably the No-Country version of Sundancer, most widely distributed in Spain. Look at her eyes...do they look like Spanish pony eyes? If so, that's another indicatior that she's most likely a Spanish/N.C. pony:)

I am deeply suspicious about this characteristic of always labelling NC ponies Spanish. There are so many variants which are NC but are not Spanish - like the Mexicans, the Greeks, etc. Some NC ponies are Spanish. The only ones you can prove are Spanish fall into two categories - ones with it engraved on the hoof and ones mint on card where it says fabricado en espana. Or Made in Spain. I dunno which.

My point is that HK and China ponies look alike and have minor differences, but HK and China ponies are not identical. And just cos NC ponies look like Spanish ponies doesn't mean they are always Spanish ponies. They might just look like them but have had their country-of-manufacture removed because it wasn't Spain.

Where Sundance is concerned, till I have a MIP UK Meg and Sundance in front of me, I couldn't tell you. All I can tell you is that there are at least 2 NC versions and that would fit the 2 editions in the UK. All Sundances that I have found in the UK -that's a lot, btw -have been No Country ones. The First and Second editions pictured on the link Garej posted are both NC Sundances. The Country Jamboree edition looks 'Spanish' potentially...in a vague kind of way. The other one doesn't at all.

Basically what I'm saying in this long, extremely tired and emotionally drained monologue on pony feet is that NC Sundance is about as common as Peachy. ^_^.

As for the Loving Family parents - jury's still out on those but all I know for sure is they aren't China and they have HK wiped out from their hoof. They look more 'Spanish' than Sundance does...but I still am not certain about where they were made.

Just seems daft to me that if they were made in Spain, why inscribe some and not the others? Must've been a reason - licenced out for cheaper labour, maybe?

Right...but there's no firm indicator that she's from the U.K. either. We'd have to actually see the pony to make a determination of her country-of-origin. I was just throwing the idea out there. I know that not all N/C ponies are Spanish. However, it's a pretty well-known fact that neither Greece nor Mexico produced a Sundance-type pony in their lines (El Greco/Delta? and Auriken/Lili Ledy respectively) so we can definitely rule those countries out for the most part.

I almost forgot to mention that I do agree that Sundance (N/C and others) are about as common as Peachy.

Noone said she was made in the UK. I just said she was the version sold here. Far as I know it, no ponies were ever made in the UK. I was thinking more that some of these 'spanish' ponies were farmed out and produced in other areas for the Spanish production people.

I admit I was tired last night when I posted, but I don't remember saying anything about ponies being made in the UK :S

And she was certainly distributed here. There have been MIB ones found. I just don't own one to check the box and find out what it says for myself.

sundance

My Sundance has no country marks, and I've never been abroad, so it must be that NC Sundance was sold in the UK.

I own 3 regular Sundances; HK, NC and China. All have subtle differences. It's not obvious, but since I have all 3 standing next to me, it's easier to tell for me.

All the ones I saw on ebay UK, have matched the characteristics of the NC one, regardless of the fact the seller has mentioned the country (or lack of country).

My China one came from an auction site (not ebay), the seller got it from a car boot, so she didnt know it's origin. My HK one came from a seller in the USA.

It´s interesting, that Sundance were made in China and Hong Kong, too. I always thought, that all Sundance are No Country.
