Summer Photo Hunt Chatter Thread

Well, Sea Shimmer is floating anyway. Sorry, I lack baby sea pony floaties.

Evelyn had me drop apple bloom 5 times to get her picture. She had fun though. We were bummed to miss the last task and lightning round. Just too much happening at once. Such is life.

yay and done :) thank goodness I have prop help or else otherwise this shot was impossible. I lost count of the attempts but boy was it fun to say I spent my sunday afternoon playing with ponies with my kids (memories! man, the decade has flown by!) that are now teen and tween-ager

hehe = the "before" pic pose. I have to admit I was thankful I had that bait /dancer handy and used I think an LPS handbag to make her cap since her mane was already chopped and I didn't want her crown visible

Ha, that was fun, but counting to three, asking my boyfriend to drop the pony and push the release at the exact moment wasn't really easy, so after a felt 4357th attempt we finally managed it. :lolpony: Actually I prefer the photos where the jumping pony just hits the water, but as it said "mid-air" in the task I entered the "mid-air" photo. Here is another one where she is diving just after hitting the water.

Everyone's "diving" ponies have absolutely been making my day! :lolpony:

I just wanted to show off 2 other photos that I almost used. The wind was giving me a bit of bother today, so I was snapping pics fast before it threw the towel and drinks into the pool...

I liked the way the ponies were floating in this last one best, but the towel had blown down and wasn't as visible.

Oh wow, beautiful pool photos @CJ Thimble Bright ! Your ponies seem to love relaxing at the pool. That table with the parasol is so cute!

My towel isn't really visible, as it's a light beige and Seaflower, Baby Leaper and Seashell are sitting on it. I thought it would be a bit more visible, but after fidgeting with my flash settings for over half an hour I gave up. I managed to reduce the flash power somewhat, but my photo is still too bright. I can handle my camera tolerably well, but I've noticed that I really have no clue when it comes to flash settings, as I hardly use it nowadays (I used to use it quite a lot for steamship interiors, but as my lenses got better I don't have to use the flash anymore and I can now work with natural light) , so time to search for my flash's manual on the internet sometime soon I guess. ;)

These tasks really are great fun, as I get to play with my ponies for once, instead of them just standing/sitting in the display cabinet. I especially love picking the right ponies for every task. I go through my pony list, checking for suitable ponies for the task in terms of their symbol or other suitability for the upcoming task, then I think about what props I could use. I don't have many pony accessories and no doll stuff, so I often can't set the scenes how I would love to (I think I need pony sunglasses now, they would have come in so handy ), but it's still fun checking the house for suitable stuff to use. :)

Anyone else feel nervous seeing ponies with proper tails in water because of the chance of rust or mold?
Yes, that's why my normal ponies stayed on dry land (or stand on something floating) and I used sea ponies for the dive and for floating in the water instead. They have a hole in their head, so any water that entered their bodies can get out again.

I really wanted to use my Paradise Estate pool for this, but it wasn't big enough to get a good shot. So I had four-year-old and seven-year-old assistants help by throwing sea ponies into the dog's pool.

Some outtakes:

Double impact.

Getting them to throw at the same time is impossible.
