My lovely ‘naked’ ladies. Lol

@maycrestmom - I’m scared to even try Jasco. Lol I don’t know why but I’m always worried about it but I think my little Hippity Hop might need it. :( If she’s even deflockable anymore...

@JadeCade - yours are beautiful too... maybe I will have to give it another go. You guys are very inspirational to get me to try again. lol

:ponylove:
love deflocking ponies - although I use jasco, not my fingernails alone (glue remover makes it tons easier to get flocking off IMO)

It's surprisingly a lot of fun, isn't it? Super rewarding when it's done, too!

Your ponies turned out beautifully! I think I've fallen in love with the deflocked Angel! :lolpony:

My lovely ‘naked’ ladies. Lol

Funny you call them "naked." My family has been calling them "hairless," like the hairless Chinese crested. Ha ha!
But in all seriousness, they truly are lovely.

honestly I don't know why they ever made such vibrant colors to just put white/grey fluff all over. And jasco to me is not that scary, just work quickly around a water source as you don't want to leave that stuff on your ponies for but a minute to eat at the glue to make removal easy. The beautiful part is that in all cases save one I found that the symbols paint was fine - again do not leave remover on a long time it is more like coat the flocking and 10 sec later start to remove.

WIP "baldy" (getting a puff-do suitable for a cupcake pony)

My cupcake admittedly I wanted to make into a custom she had a major haircut and I had mostly deflocked her, left her with a glue residue for about a year and then retreated with jasco and that glue came right up all it took was a couple cotton balls dipped in the stuff. I then used baby wipes for a final rub down after I ran her under hot water.

IF you are allergic to smells, than main concern is make sure the space is ventilated

but yes, I prefer MLP "naked" if that is the term... honestly so-soft was a gimmick I just never appreciated

@maycrestmom so you can use Jasco over the symbols? My girls still have some residue near their symbols because I’m afraid of getting too close with the acetone.
@chii @Skybreeze Thank you! Although of those six, I only am personally responsible for three of them. The others I cheated and bought deflocked. Lol. I also have two more in progress.

I think the colours are vibrant because they are putting grey fluff all over it, so we could see the colour through the fluff. if the ponies had muted colours and grey fluff, we wouldn't see much colour at all!

it makes me wish vibrant colours were more common in non so-soft ponies.

~~~
for anyone who has touched a so-soft pony, does the flocking actually make you think "wow this pony is soft", or does the flocking just feel like a bunch of dust/hair/doesn't exactly feel soft?
Hm... not quite either of those. You know how around Easter or Christmas they have those little ‘velvet’ like bunnies or doves to decorate wreaths or Xmas trees? I mean, it can be soft if it’s in good shape. If you get a ‘bait’ SS it can feel prickly like when your leg hair is growing back! :lolpony:
I just got a mental image of a “leg hair” pony. :lolpony:
The flocking on So Soft Ponies is actually white. The gray/yellowed colours is due to dirt and the aging process of the glue Hasbro used to adhere the flocking to the pony.
But yes! These ponies are all very vibrant once de-flocked because they were made to be covered in a layer of white flocking this muting the colours and symbols.
As @JadeCade said, depending on the wear and tear of the pony’s flocking they are generally soft to the touch. They feel like chenille pipe cleaners:
When they’re in good condition and stall have a lot of flocking left.
Oooh I love seeing everyone's pretty deflocked girls! My only deflocking project's been on hold for um... 7 years :blush: poor Twilight. Sometime I'll get the tools I need to finish her!
oh jewel, I'd forgotten how pretty twilight was :) love seeing the variety of everyone's deflocked ponies :)
I will see if I can figure out how to do a video/youtube to show how yes, when applied and removed quickly, the paint on ponies stays intact so that just all the glue and flocking can be easily removed by jasco
again, just be mindful of any skin sensitivity - I apply using cotton balls and usually work over my sink to have a warm water source nearby
Looking at this thread again, I just realized how deep purple your Twilight is!! :eek: Does Twilight's under-the-flocking color vary from toy to toy in some way? Mine is much lighter!
I also love being able to see everyone's symbols without all the flocking <3
That Twilight had a bit of an accident back when I used to dye my hair purple..... :unsure: So she ended up with a dye job to make the color even LOL. She definitely isn't usually that dark. ;)
