G4 SDCC Exclusives (slight rant)

I’m sure some of you may have seen these already. If not, above is this years SDCC MLP exclusives. Apparently to retail for $20 although not sure if it’s for the set of three or each? I assume it’s for the set of three though.

To be honest, I’m kinda disappointed this year. Considering the previous years (short of last year with no exclusive) they were all amazing. This year it’s lazy re-paints and hair styles. Especially Pinkie Pie!! Common Hasbro - Pinkie Pie, you could’ve done SO much more with her alone:

Serious, these three came directly from your own flipping show...... but I will buy them. I mean, I gotta catch ‘em all. (When did I become a G4 completist????)

Anyways, I digress, what does everyone else think of them? Are you planning on picking these babies up for yourself?
 
I’ll admit I’m pretty disappointed as well. It’s...a cute idea but I would have rather seen some “older” side characters go 80s/their childhood (I mean Cheerilee before she was a teacher? Big Mac going through a rebel phase?)

I’ve escaped the need to be a completist with the G4.5 line...I just don’t like the expressions. They are kinda held in the same place as 3.5’s for me: if I find them, I guess I’ll get them, but I don’t seek them out. Seeing as how I don’t have any other G4 SDCC exclusives, I probably won’t go out of my way to get these ladies either.
 
Yessssss! I mean they have SO much they could pull from the show.

Would’ve also been nice if they did an ode to past G1 and did a toy or three of G1 ponies in G4 style. Or vice versa.

So much they could’ve done rather than simple and lazy recolours of current toys. Especially Twilight, they’ve used this specific mould SO many times. (I counted five on my wall this morning because I’m still annoyed by this.. lol)

I understand what you mean by the G4.5... I felt the same way, then I got a couple at a thrift store and once again I opened the flood gates. I have zero control.

@Ology - I would agree. Although I do like Twi’s crimped hair. Crimping hair was my life in the 80’s early 90’s...

@Leave a Whisper - Yes, sadly very cheap. Maybe the Power Rangers but our forced hands to make things cheap for a bit??? I dunno...just disappointed I guess. Lol
 
A cheerilee would have been neat.
 
@Tak - They just look like the cartoons more now. Which for me I hate but I also kinda love now. They grown on me since my room is full of them now.

@Cerulean - Ya but a line that they don’t do for milestone anniversaries. Like say the seaponies or flutterponies? Or even the So Soft gals would be nice.
 
We haven't been watching the show anymore either... not since the changelings became good.

Its a bloody shame they put more effort into the packaging then the ponies.
