I know that sunshine ponies hair is supposed to change color in the sun. Would it do it in warm water?

And are everyone's ponies from this set totally frizzy. I just got a beach ball and wave runner in a lot I won on ebay and they are totally frizzy. So bad it is impossible to get anything thru their hair and I gave up.

If everyone in this set is always really badly frizzy would it be bad if I just yanked out their hair and replaced it with a normal white and matching color? And how hard is it to reroot hair.

Oh and finally does the conditioner and curling iron really work for defrizzing cause I thought that the heat is super bad for hair?

Thanks for your input.

the curling iron technique does help but its not gonna make it perfect. I always found it worked best if i used the curling iron when the ponies hair was a bit wet (not dripping wet mind you). I usually wash ponies hair, then condition. I let the conditioner soak in for a while and then I run a comb through it and allow it to soak more. the i rinse all of it out and allow them to dry, I have found this tames frizz alot, but again its not a perfect fix.

and yes every pony from that set that I have ever seen has frizzy hair :( I am sure there has to be some out there that arent but I have never come across them. I had sundance with the hair changing streak as a kid (still do actually) and she is all frizzy too.

Mine all have next to perfectly silky hair:) I wouldn't have them any other way! And let me just say this:

Heat when used properly is NOT damaging!

Sure having a curling iron on the highest setting is going to melt hair, but it won't on low, medium if you'll be using it for a while. I've cured about 90% of frizz that comes my way with a curling iron:) First try turning your water as hot as it will run, brush the pony out first and dip her under, that'll cure some of the poofiness if not all of it. Then let the conditioner sit in. In the case of the sunshine ponies, the color change hair is more heat sensitive than regular pony hair and will melt easier when dry, but if you try the wet method with conditioner, it'll help:) Some are just beyond repair no matter what you do  but it's worth a shot before you go and rehair them.

And no, the color streak does not change in water, only the sun. The only ones that change with water are certain baby sea ponies;)

I know exactly what you mean. I have a Mainsail and Shoreline whose white stripes were positively atrocious when I got them. Frizz from roots to tips! However, after a good long conditioner+curling iron session, the hair is now only the teensiest bit coarse on the ends, so I'm a believer that it can be fixed. And really, if the hair is so bad that you're considering rehairing, what have you got to lose?

I think the key to not scorching or melting the hair is to keep it damp at all times and always keep the iron moving. I think using a really good quality conditioner helps too. (I use L'Oreal Feria conditioner, and it works wonders on my hair and my ponies'.) I actually run the iron through while the conditioner is still in, then I rinse, gauge the effectiveness, then reapply conditioner and repeat as necessary. You may have to run the hair through ten times or more, but your patience will pay off, and you're less likely to melt the hair if you do a little at a time.

Well it sorta worked. They are still frizzy at the tips. Is there anyway to fix the tips?

Also is the curling iron thing safe on tinsel??

Just thought I would ask.

it is if you're careful. if you have it too hot and leave it to sit, it'll melt easily. But if you pull it through like you normally would while straightening, it'll work on tinsel also.

Unfortunately, the frizz is almost universal in the sunshine ponies. It's something to do with the property of the color-changing hair. And, from all accounts, if you use heat to straighten the frizz, it ruins the color-changing properties if they still work. That's why I haven't messed with the Beachball I have. She's pretty much near mint other than the frizz and the hair works perfectly, and I don't want to risk messing that up.
