Hello everyone!
recently I’ve got back into my love of my little ponies and Finally caved in on becoming a g1 collector.
So! I decided to buy my first lot of ponies, one in particular (North Star) has no tail. Which I don’t mind because I was going to refurbish them all anyway!
But! I need help finding the perfect matching hair for her as like I said, she seems to be missing her tail. her mane is in amazing condition and I’d rather keep it original instead of replacing both the mane and tail, so I’d like to find something as similar to her mane colour as possible.
If anyone seems to find anything please feel free to drop me a link for where I can purchase the perfect hair for my poor little pony.
Thank you.
ps. I am also uk based so if we could make sure the place ships to the UK that’d be great :ponylove:

One way might be to wait until you can get a bait pony with a good tail of the same color, and just donate the tail from that pony. That lavender color is pretty common, so it probably wouldn't be hard to find! That way your North Star would have authentic G1 hair, but it would mean waiting until you can find the right bait pony, and "sacrificing" that pony's tail. It depends on how you feel about that I suppose.

I’m not 100% sure if she ships to the UK or what the cost is but Dollyhair is a great place to get exact matching hair from (the colours on the site above corespond to the colour on this site).

Another very popular place people order from is RetroDoll US and they do ship to the UK. I personally have never purchased from them so I am unsure of the matching or quality. However, I do know a lot of people use their hair for customs so I assume it’s a good product as well. :)

Another added tip for restoration, MLP Preservation Project is a fantastic resource for anyone starting out with restorations.

I hope this is helpful to you. Keep us update on your project! :D

I didnt think of this either! i'm completely okay with sacrificing a bait pony to the gods.

I actually found out retrodolls has a UK site/etsy store too, and the hair matching site that whisper kindly linked helps match their colours to the Dollyhair site colours which is great. The preservation project site is useful to me too. thank you :ponylove:

Too bad you can't stick a little photo in there. Are you old enough to remember those Easter egg toys that had little dioramas you peeked at through little holes? There could be a whole world to view, right through that hole...

I am cracking up here! :lolpony: I remember those eggs. I'm afraid to go one worse... I used to watch Peewee's playhouse with my sister, and every so often he'd invite you to "go on up his nose". I'm now picturing random pony holes with dioramas inside... or a whole other dimension.

Do doo do doo do doo do doo
