I thought it might be fun to share things that drive you mad when buying or selling ponies online. I have so many, so I'll begin. No particular order.

BUYING:
1. Please view pictures for condition.

REASONS - pictures are great, but, depending on how they are taken, important things can be missed. If you are selling and you have EYES and see that my Cool Breeze has part of her tail cut, mention it! (because you couldn't tell at all from the photo) Also, by only doing photos, you can hide things if you are so inclined to be sneaky.

2. Saying ponies may have marks, hair cuts, cancer, tail rust, chews, missing parts, may be possessed etc.

REASONS - I get that they are trying to cover all the bases, but when I look at their pictures and the pony looks okay, I have to wonder if I've missed something important. I tend to avoid buying from sellers that do this. It's also kinda lazy. I mean, just look at the pony. If you see anything worth noting, mention it.

3. Ridiculous prices

REASONS - Again, I don't get it. $300 for a bunch of common, roughed up ponies is nuts. Maybe take ten minutes and do the most basic research. In the end, it will save you time and having to relist when no one buys your lot. This is a common problem lately, even for individual ponies. I know I'm cheap, but listing all your common ponies for $24.99 each, plus shipping is unlikely to bring many sales.

SELLING:
1. Asking for me for more pictures when I've posted both sides of a pony, and given details about it's condition and it's $4 and you won't buy it anyway.

REASONS - time wasting. I understand if you are spending a lot on a pony, you may want additional photos, but some people are just being ridiculous. Come on now, be reasonable.

2. Not reading the post.

REASONS - I try to put details in my post for anything you may want to know. Info on condition, prices, availability, shipping, methods of payment etc. When you ask me questions that are already answered in my post, you make me not want to sell them to you.

3. Not knowing what you are buying.

REASONS - Partly because I don't get it. How much is the blue one? Which blue one, and if you are so interested in buying her, why haven't you bothered to find out who she is. Ok, I know not everyone is the same, but it's weird and again, kinda lazy.

4. This one is going to make me look bad, but if you demonstrate to me that you are completely ignorant, if can't type in full sentences and use your words, I'm unlikely to sell anything to you.

REASONS - This one is all me. I've turned into that crazy, old lady who says "These kids today..." I'm also likely to yell at people to "Get off my lawn".

Ugh, #2 in the selling! I try to be very thorough in descriptions but I swear people look at the pics and don't bother to read. I bite my tongue when what I really want to say is, I've already answered this, go back and look!

I think it's rude when they insist on specific packaging after they've purchased when said packaging and resulting increase of shipping cost is a significant amount.

I didn't even think about that one. I wouldn't send the package until they paid the extra shipping.

Here's another one I don't get. A person comes into a FB group, who is not a collector and wants to sell and then asks the people who will end up buying, to point out any rare ponies they might have and then say how much they should charge. AND, more surprising, people help the person and often give higher than average rates to sell at. It's ridiculous.

I would totally help a friend or another collector I know with pricing, but random people looking to make a profit off of me and my friends... ummm, no.

I've been staying away from those groups for just that reason! I'm a sucker for helping and think they should try asking for the higher end price if the pony is worth it based on eBay and other sales. It's gotten too crazy for this nut to mix in.

When they take pics with the mane obscuring the face/body, especially when they say " see pics for condition". I can't see it if the hair's in the way!!

This is what drives me crazy about both buyers and sellers I've encountered:

Sellers:
1. When they take pictures from one angle and the only description is "see pictures for description." Sure, you may have multiple pictures, but how about moving your ponies around so I can see the back or sides?
2. When sellers don't tell you they have smoke odors. Smoke is soooo difficult to get out of ponies!
3. As mentioned above when sellers think their pony is made of gold and they want like $100 for a common Cotton Candy. Really? Do your research.
4. When sellers take pictures but they are blurry, too dark, or too small to see anything. In this day in age with technology so advanced, you can figure out how to get more light in you photos and make them larger than thumbnails.
5. When they don't leave feedback on eBay even after you leave them wonderful glowing feedback. Seriously, I'm not buying from you again now.

Buyers:
1. Read the description. If the answer isn't in there, then ask your question.
2. When they don't leave feedback on eBay. I usually wait to leave feedback until I know they have received their item and are happy with it (and don't want to return it).
3. When they bid on your item and then want to retract it. I understand but it's still annoying.
4. When they want you to put one of your items on hold on your website and then you don't hear back from them. Sorry, I don't hold items forever because I have brainfog and if it's on hold too long then I won't remember who it was for or why. You either want it or you don't.

All that she said ^ ;)

I want to add when shopping on ebay or buying stuff that the sellers DEMAND you leave feedback. I understand feedback is important there but I dont like sellers being pushy and thats like feedback extortion. I try to remember to leave feedback for sellers but not every seller leaves me feedback.

Same here for me leaving feedback. I tried to always leave it when I was a seller, too, unless they were unbearable rude. I get feedback from maybe 3 out of every 8 sellers... I thought it was just me.

Sellers should never demand feedback! Honestly, in my opinion people should leave feedback but in their own time. I never ask or demand it. (I should not say never, I did ask once with to this rude seller but I only asked because she hadn't sent out half my ponies the first time and I was letting her know the remaining ponies arrived and then she got mad at me when I didn't give her 5 stars -- I'm not sure how she knew this? -- and I told her she didn't even leave me feedback at all and she said she wasn't going to because I didn't leave her 5 stars on everything).

In my opinion, sellers should leave it after they know their buyer is satisfied with the transaction. And buyers should leave feedback when then they are finished with the outcome (meaning they have received their item or have already made their claim and gotten their refund or sent their item back etc.).

But I understand if people are on the fence on a transaction and don't want to leave any feedback. The thing is there are people out there who are newer to eBay and are trying to build up feedback before selling and need it. So when people just blow it off for no reason it hurts them.

That's why I always do, unless I don't have anything nice to say, but that's only happened a few times out of hundreds of transactions.

I forgot about the feedback thing. Nobody seems to leave it anymore.

I forgot to mention the one that started me thinking about this thread, I hate it when people list every item with words like stunning, beautiful, cute, gorgeous etc. I prefer when they stick to facts about condition, rather than their opinion on the pony.

Oh, and rulers crack me up. The chances are the person buying already knows what side the item is.

Oh, oh and people who don't know what they are selling and make it up. A bunch of those weird, cheap, little fakies I often see described as "newborns".

I admit I use adjectives like beautiful, stunning and gorgeous when describing some aspects, but I only do it in conjunction with the description. Example: Little to no glitter loss. Gorgeous.

I think I only use this description with symbols and I don't think I have used it anywhere else unless I have said something like she's a beautiful pony or in beautiful condition following a description.

Another one I just thought of as I was browsing eBay this morning is I really dislike when sellers mention their pony is custom bait JUST because it isn't mint or near mint. I realize you don't want your buyers upset that it has some issues, but this is really lazy.

And in the same breath, I really dislike when sellers say there are only a couple small marks when the pony has been clearly scribbled all over or they may say the pony has messy hair or a trim when the pony has had a pretty obvious haircut. Just tell it like it is.
