I picked up a starshine with really bad pen marks....Is there anything I can do to remove these?

Some I've gotten out with pure acteone. Others, since she's white, I put benzoyl peroxide on them, let soak for half an hour, wipe off and set in the sun.

test

do a test spot on her first if you use the pimple cream (benzoyl peroxide). White ponies sometimes turn yellow from it (like my baby princess sparkle *sob*)

I've had really good luck with pen marks just setting the pony in the full sun- it does take quite awhile though. I wrapped up non-marked areas to protect them from the sun.

Has anyone figured out how to get the yellow back to white? I accidentally set a freshly dyed pony next to my Truly I'm deflocking and I got the dye spots off but now they're yellow!!! Does anyone know how to get her back white? What if I put some more BP on her & took her to a tanning bed! *joke, but kind of not*

*has always kinda wondered* But doesn't that just make them bleach unevenly, leaving the exposed spots lighter than the rest of the pony?

(Heh, my poor Firefly...there's virtually *no* spot on his display side that would *not* need bleaching, thanks his his unfortunate habit of bleeding pen ink everywhere after being hit by trucks. --But I have managed to at least fade most of it, if not entirely remove it, by using acetone, so...)

I've done this a couple of time with white ponies and it helps. It doesn't completely remove the yellow, but it definitely lightens it:

I soak a cotton ball in vinegar and water (probably about half and half mixture) and apply the ball directly to the yellowed spots. Then I put her in the sunny window again and leave her alone for a day. It takes about a week of applications to get the yellow tint to fade a bit, but it was a real lifesaver for one of my customs.

And the way to avoid heavy yellow discolorations is to apply the benzoyl peroxide very sparingly. The heavier the application, and the longer it sits on the pony, the more likely it is to stain yellow. You may still get a bit of a discolored spot, but it won't be that vibrant yellow. (I wonder if my baity Sugarberry will ever forgive me for turning her face yellow?)

I never knew that.

What I do to remove marks on white ponies, is:
1. the sun treatment as mentioned already. Cover up hair, eyes, and symbols, then I place her in the sun with a foil backdrop. Sometimes I will dab some Oxy10 on the mark. Some ponies turn yellow from Oxy10, some turn whiter I found in a side by side comparison--we guess it has to do with the plastic. Or
2. Remove Zit from Twin Pines.

Thanks so much! I'm trying to save my first deflock. Eeew, vinegar. I hate that stuff. I cant believe some people eat it. But I'll buy some to try that. And is it really necessary to use tin foil? I always use those blue shop towels and I've never had a symbol fade?

My insane parents put it on vinegar when they serve it, and traumatized me for life as a result : 0-P Vinegar is nas-ty stuff--I prefer it in Windex where I don'thave to taste it, heh ; 0-P

I think I'd worry that tin foil would act like one of those box ovens we made in scouts and start heating up my pony a leetle too much... X 0-D I think I'm paranoid. I just really, really don't want to do anything that'd ruin one of my precious ponies--even the CBs! lol X 0-) *is a little too attached to her plastic...*

I've also found the sun to be the best bleacher but we don't get as much as we should in the UK.

I use nailpolish remover and Q-tips, try also goo gone, clorax bleach pen and a toothbrush, acetone,Mr.clean magic eraser works wonders.

I've had ponies covered in ink and you can't tell now ;)

What would happen if you put bleach pen on the yellow and then put it in the sun? Any difference?

HA! Thank you for giving me a chuckle while I'm at work. I'm almost completely void of life today, so I enjoyed that image of Sugarberry with a yellow face.

Bryndel- I know what you mean. I have heard some people say not to put the aluminum foil on ponies. I don't remember why. I'll do a search. But others have recommended it. As for the oven, I think if you put the super shiny side on the outside, it'd reflect most of the sun's rays, and aluminum foil isn't one to hold heat. You know when you take something out of the oven that had aluminum foil over it? It cools in seconds flat. But I don't know, I've never tried it myself.

To answer your question, no it don't have to be foil. That simply what I did to make it a nice even coverage so I don't have to keep turning it. I was concerned about heat too, but I don't stick em out that long and considering how people bake ponies in ovens sometimes, I simply kept an eye on it.

Putting bleach in the sun, I thought turned things yellow(?). I guess you can try to experiment. I'd just put it straight up in the sun for a few days to see how that works. Dab a small bit of oxy10 on it to see if it turns that spot yellow or helps. Personally I'd work my way up to chemicals if that don't work, so as to avoid unintended reactions of mixing chemicals with eachother and the sun.

"and considering how people bake ponies in ovens sometimes..." lol...hmm. True. And luckily for me, we do get sun here, something like 320 days out of the year or somesuch X 0-) Time to experiment... C'mere baby Firefly!

I was wondering if other erasers'd work, too, heh. Anyone tried?
