G1 Night Glider with cut hair: Sell as-is, or rehair?

I hope this is the right place to post this. I have a G1 Night Glider that's in great condition except that her hair has unfortunately been cut, and I'm not sure what to do with her. This pony seems to go for quite a lot on eBay in good condition, so I'm wondering if it would be worth investing in a rehairing kit and attempting rehairing. It seems like I could still make a good profit with the amount this pony goes for. I've never done it before, but kind of want to try! Or do you think it would be better to just sell this Night Glider as-is? The haircut really isn't horrible, so maybe someone will be happy with her like this, or will want to rehair her themselves. What do you think?

Whatever you feel like doing. If you've never rehaired, I would let someone else worry about it.

Thanks for replying! Yeah, I've never rehaired before. I'm pretty crafty so I think it sounds like a fun project, but I should probably try it on a less valuable pony first! What do you think would be a reasonable price for my Night Glider in this condition? I have no idea how to judge that.

She is still very pretty even with her hait is cut I think you should curl her hair like this

Thanks, I think she’s pretty too! The curled style is very cute, but I don’t think her hair is long enough for it... Her tail only goes down to around mid-leg. :/

With how high she's been going for lately, I'd say $30. She's still really cute with the cut and symbols look clean. Good luck!

Okay, thank you! Yes, her symbols are all perfect as far as I can see. I will try listing her for $30. I guess that’s about half her usual going price, so sounds reasonable!

Thanks, bluerose9978. Selling as is seems to be the consensus! I'm new to selling on eBay and still sort of figuring it out, but my strategy so far has been to list just a little higher than I'm willing to sell for and see if anyone makes an offer. If not, I'll lower the price when the item is relisted. Maybe I should start lower, but I'm afraid to start too low and end up selling ponies for less than I think they're worth. I've already sold a couple ponies to buyers who made reasonable offers, so it seems to be working so far.

I've put the Night Glider up for auction starting at $30, but maybe I should try starting it lower. Is the best strategy to decide on the lowest price you'll accept and start the auction there?

Like I said before if it's a buy it now auction and you're accepting offers, set it higher. Like $30 is a fine starting mark and then I wouldn't accept anything lower than $25 but I wouldn't accept it right away. Let the auction go for a while and if you don't get any bites you can always lower it. However, if you're setting it at like a 7-day auction and taking offers, that's different. Most people like auctions to start lower and bid them up. Just my opinion from being on eBay since about 2001. The offers there are usually for a higher amount instead of a lower one. Like starting the auction at $20 and the offer is $30 so that you'd end the auction. You can also put a buy it now on a 7-day auction of $30 if you start it at $20.

Thanks so much for the advice! It's really difficult to decide on pricing. I've been doing the 7-day auctions so far but haven't added the "Buy it now" option. Maybe I should do that.

I just listed a Night Glider for sale this past week in a 7-day auction. She ends today, in fact. I started her at $25. Her only major problem is someone removed her head and when they did it, they used a knife and cut kind of unevenly but it was never glued back on. In the auction I said I'd leave that for the new owner to do. She's up to $33 right now and there's still 9 hours to go. She has 25 watchers. Never know what may happen.

Oh yeah, I saw that one! Sounds like it's doing well. I have several auctions going, but I might have priced them all a bit too high. Maybe I'll just end them and restart them a bit lower.

Actually, someone just bid $30 for my Night Glider! Yay! :lolpony:

You don't have to end the auctions, especially if you've had lookers or watchers. Just edit them to change the starting price because eBay will actually send a notification to people who have viewed your auction letting them know you've lowered the price so if they're interested they'll take another look.

Right, but I don't think eBay lets you set a "Buy it now" price unless you end the auction and relist it. It seemed like a good idea to add that. I'm not in a hurry to sell though, so I can let the auctions run their course and then reconsider! Thanks for all your help. :)

Wow! Yes she seems to be very popular. She's not really that rare, is she? I guess it's just a trend among collectors right now! I'll let you know how my auction turns out.
