What is a redline?
A redline drawing is a sketch that points out errors/give corrections in an existing drawing. The sketch is usually red, hence the term.
I'm offering a (free!) redlining service to anyone who is struggling with the proportion(s) of their drawing, or is having trouble drawing a specific part. These redlines are references, and I would appreciate it if you wouldn't trace over them. Tracing defeats the whole purpose of learning to develop your own style.
Criticism vs. critique
Many people, artists and non-artists alike, tend to become confused over the definitions of these two terms.
• To criticize is to "the expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes," per Google.
• To critique is to point out perceived flaws, mistakes, or errors, while offering advice on how to fix them. It is not done in malice, but with the intention to help the artist(s) improve.
I'm doing the latter.
Important note:
This isn't just limited to ponies! I can redline just about any animal, and to an extent humans.
Please remember that I, surprisingly, have a life outside of ponies and may not be able to complete your redlines immediately. Nonetheless, please don't let that discourage you from posting, I'll get to them in time.
