Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some new checklists. For my G1's I'm using the mylittleponycollector lists, but I'm also looking for a checklist or site with pictures. I'd like something similar for my G3 and G4's. Ideally, I'd like one printable type checklist for each generation and one database reference with photos. I've been using MLP wiki, MLPland and Strawberry Reef for identification. I'd appreciate any good resources to aid me with organization. Thanks,
Cactusflower

For G1 ponies, there used to be a fantastic identification site (called Dream Valley, IIRC)... but it closed a long time ago, and it's not showing up on the Wayback Machine :( There is also the My Little Pony Wiki (linked to the G1 ponies page - the MLP Wiki in general is great for anything MLP). You can also check out Ponyland Press, for a very comprehensive G1 MLP gallery.

For G3 ponies, a good site to check is Strawberry Reef (I've linked you to the top G3 page. There is some info on other MLP gens there). It has a good database on G3 ponies, with various search options (by colour, by name, etc)

For G4 ponies, check out the MLP Merch Database. Again, a very comprehensive database on G4 ponies.

Hope that helps! I've made my own visual checklists from scouring those sites... They work for me, in keeping a visual track of what I have/what I need. If you're curious I can show you what they look like, but you might want to make one yourself, depending on what info you need, etc.

I like a paper checklist so I love Summer Hayes's MLP Collectors Inventory book, you might like that as well. It's very detailed with accessories too.

A long time ago there use to be an accessory site that had a printable checklist for all the G1 combs, ribbons, wear, barrettes, baby accessories you name it. I can't remember where it was since my computer crashed and everything on it was lost. There is one out there.

Thanks the way back link Uftaki. I used Dream Valley back in the day and I was so disappointed to find the website was gone.

Gingerbread - I like paper checklists as well. I'm going to order that Inventory book.

I was trying to check off my G4 blind bag minis today. What a nightmare. I was using MLPMerch and there are like a hundred versions of each mini. Crazy. I ran out of patience. :)

Thanks, all.

@Gingerbread - Thank you! :D I used to have a bookmark Wayback link, too, to the ID section of the site... but it goes to this odd beta test page, now. o_O

I love my paper checklists, too. Very easy to carry around, so you can look at them whenever you come across some ponies in the shops. :3 I don't have the collector's book, but it sounds interesting. I made my own spending HOURS saving a picture of every single pony, noting their name + year + group (or colour, in G3's case), the messing with programs like MSPaint + Gimp to create my checklists (making a grid, entering all the text, re-sizing all the photos to fit, etc). (lol) Very labor-intensive work, but hey... kept me entertained. XD

I had made a G3 checklist that was available on Mylittlewiki, but when I dropped out of the pony scene 3 years ago, the link has stopped working.
I am currently in the process of revamping my old checklist to include all the information on the variants as well. I have the old checklist still if you would like a copy?

Yes Elish2, I would love a copy of the old checklist. Thank you.

I guess it would be super helpful to collectors to have checklists available not through links and sites but right here in our forums on a thread. Depending on a website is tough since sometimes people no longer can manage them then everything is gone. Also with the magnitude of merchandise with newer generations this is quite a task for sure especially when you have playsets that include small accessories. It is better to have a picture of those and that is why the websites are so nice. Hopefully wiki will stay around a while. They don't have checklists though. I printed out one once but mine is written all over and a huge mess and it is not complete, plus it is accessories.

I've made my own G4 checklists using Strawberry Reef. I received a copy of a lovely G3 list from Elish.

Just for interest's sake, I'm going to show you a sample of what the checklists I've made are like. Now, these are lists I've made solely for myself, so they might not/won't have everything on them... and in some cases I went very specific with the variants. c_c; I probably don't actually NEED to have those variants on my lists, as the differences are minor, but... ^_^; [shrug] Maybe one day I'll revamp them. I've cobbled these checklists from various sites (the sites I linked above), and (very, very time consumingly) created a grid in MS Paint, added text and the pictures to them for each checklist.

On a few of the pictures, you'll see my notes as to the condition of some of the ponies (those that may need upgrades, later down the line)

My G1 checklist is probably the most straight-forward? Arranged by year, by group, then by name. It covers most/all of the US releases. (I've also made a smaller one for the UK releases).
My G3 checklist covers only the G3s (and not G3.5). It's ordered by body colour, then name. I went a little over-specific on the variants for a few of these (eg: where one release may have a slightly smaller symbol than another release)
My G4 checklist similarly only covers what G4 releases I could find (and not the newly-redesigned 'G4.5' ponies). Again, went very specific on some of the variants (eg: a gradient eye vs a solid-colour eye).
For the G4 Blind Bag checklists, the number on the left is the card number, the number/letters on the right are the bag ID. Some may have numbers in blue on the center, and that's for my own benefit (it's the number printed on their hooves).

If people are interested in these, and want them for themselves... I can upload unchecked lists here, for people.

Those are great. I've been waiting for my new book the Collector Inventory one for a couple weeks. It's supposed to be here any day now.

I don't have a checklist per se, but i do have a little purple book where I've written down what G1 ponies I have and all their specifications so I can check and see if the ponies I find are any different to the ones I have. I don't really stick to it though because I just buy any I find regardless if I have them or not :lolpony:
