Voting for the yearly custom contest theme is underway in the Customs forum! Both attendees and non-attendees are welcome to participate in the voting process:

November 2008: It's time for CAPTAINS!


In order to help the meet run smoothly, I'll be appointing captains for different events and activities. By being an event captain, you are responsible for organizing and running your selected event(s). No donation of any kind is required except for your time.

Here are the different captains that are needed:


Custom Contest Captain: SkippetyDoo
This captain will be responsible for organizing the 2009 custom contest (which has yet to be announced). Duties for this captain include helping to promote the contest, supervising the voting, counting the votes and announcing the winners, as well as handing out award ribbons.

Scooter Race Captain: SweetieBabyFizzy
​
This captain will be responsible for organizing the 2009 scooter race. Duties for this captain include organizing the contestants into heats, keeping track of winners and placements, and handing out the award ribbons. And of course, signaling the start and determining the winner of each race.

Pinata Captain: Darcerin
This captain will be responsible for organizing the 2009 pinata. Duties for this captain include stringing up the pinata, lining up the guests, and supervising the activity.

Activity Captain #1: Sailor Libra
This captain will be responsible for organizing and supervising an activity or game which has yet to be decided.

This captain will be responsible for organizing and supervising an activity or game which has yet to be decided.

both attendees and non-attendees, so keep an eye out on the forum!

I would love to be a captain! But I don't know what I want to do yet. heheheh
 
Can I be one, even though this would be my first year? I've decided that I'm definitely coming unless some family emergency comes up. I need to go out and meet some more pony people.

I don't think I want to be a captain in anything, but I have a question about the scooter race. Is it racing ponies or racing people? If it's with ponies I'm definitely gonna participate in it. :)
 
I believe it's the pony scooters. I saw pics on the site from the previous meets. I want to enter that too... Just gotta dig a scooter out. If I can be a captain.. I... would like.. to be the custom captain.. since I wouldn't be entering that one. :oops:
 
Wait, so we need to bring our own scooters? That stinks, because I don't have one. :(

Yup, it's racing scooters, and no worries DB--I always have plenty of extra scooters :) So even if you don't have one or forget to bring one, there's always one you can borrow for the race.
 
Thank goodness. I wonder which pony of mine will ride the scooter? hmmmm...
 
You know that I'll try to lend a hoof. I guess I'll take on the scooter race one. Let me know if you want me to search for any award ribbons or if we plan on making any or whatnot. ^_^v

Hey SL! I already had a pm from SBF asking to be the Scooter Captain, so would you like to be in charge of the pinata, or maybe your own activity or contest?
 
Okay, We could do "Bobbing for Baities" and we could put prepared baits in a, like, water-filled basin, and there could be like, 15 or 20 of them, and there could be like 8 or so prizes of varying, uh, value, and which prize you win could be written on a piece of paper, and then put in a ziploc baggie, and then put inside the Baity, and you would close your eyes to, um, "bob" for them, cus it's easier to grab a Baity than an apple, and you would take off the head to see which prize you get. Or you would just get a prepared bait, which is still okay.

Or, we could also put in each Baity, a number denoting which turn you take swinging at the pinata, or some other thing we need to be in numerical order for.

Or, we could have like a big prize, and inside each baity, there could be a hint as to where it is...I'm sorry, this is getting too complicated, now.
 
Thanks MBJ, I'll go with the undecided activity. Wart does have a good idea. I've got a tub I got I think it was Target for 4th of July. We could take Wart's idea of the bobbing for baits and modify it. Remember the game where you had to pick a ducky with a number on it on the bottom? We could do something like that and depending on the number that you draw determines your prize.

It's not too complicated Wart, I'm with you.

We could do a fakie hunt! You know like an easter egg hunt. Weather permitting of course. If it's going to be good weather outside, we could hide fakies throughout the yard for people to hunt and if you find the one prized fakie, which no one will know exactly which one it is, only the organizers will, then they win a specific prize. As a back up plan, in case it rains, we could do the fakie's in a the water tub and each fakie would mean possibly a prize or no prize depending on which one is picked. For the tub, we'd have to set it up for one at a time and where no one would see what pony a previous person picked. This would prevent cheating hopefully.

I still remember that year we broke the broom! MBJ, please try to find us a bat for this year. I feel bad when you let us use your sports equipment and other items to beat the pinata with.
