Hey y'all! Last year I decided to start an inventory project for my pony collection -- it's essentially a notebook filled with information on everything MLP that I own. (I'll try to post pictures at some point!) It... ended up being way more of an undertaking than I thought it was going to be, but I want to see it through!

The basic setup is this: Pony/Merch Object Name, Release Year, Set, Defining Characteristics. Some items have more information and some have less, but that's generally how the whole book goes.

I've gotten through most of my collection, but now I've hit the accessories. Oh boy.

Does anyone have any ideas for how to record massive amounts of brushes and animal friends and barrettes and whatever else? I'd rather not spend the next decade matching everything to a set and going into painstaking detail, so should I just sort by generation and color? Suggestions and help are much appreciated! <3

If you don't want to match to sets, color and generation sound good. Maybe group recasts of the same mold (more applicable for G3-G4) together too?

When your finished with your collection, do you want to come catalog mine? ;p

I would say doing it by generation and colour is a good starting place. Then if you do decide to delve further in, it’s much easier for you to find things and say “hey it’s in here!”

OR you can be a hot mess like me. Ha ha ha!!!

Do you have the collector's guide? I find that very helpful in sorting accessories. I mark them off and can know exactly what I have/need, it's quite thorough.
