I'm going on a buying trip to Phoenix looking for inventory for my eBay store in the next few weeks. There's a few dozen thrift stores I'll be hitting. Some of the stores I have an established relationship with, and I'll be able to go behind the scenes to search through their stuff in the "back room" so there's a good chance of me finding Good Stuff.

If there's anything YOU are looking for, I will be happy to add your wishes to my list.

So -- if you're looking for something in particular, let me know. There is no commitment required -- if you want it then change your mind (or find it elsewhere) I can always sell it to someone else.

Ever see American Pickers? I am a Picker of Toys. :)

A few things I really watch for include:

-- My Little Ponies in any condition (obviously since I'm posting here,I know there's a market)
-- Barbies, including dolls in rough condition for OOAK artists. If you would be interested in a flat rate box stuffed full of Barbies, let me know (and let me know what face molds/ethnicities/eras you want) -- this helps me gauge how many to buy. I expect to come home with at least a few hundred dolls.
-- She-ra, Moon Dreamers, Jem, Darci, various action figures etc. -- toys of the 70's and 80's.
-- Building toys -- Construx, Legos, Etc.
-- Transformers, in any condition, from broken bits and pieces to minty.
-- ANY doll shoes
-- ANY doll clothes
-- Anatomically correct baby dolls
-- Polly Pockets, both Bluebird and Mattel
-- Kiddles
-- Dawn

You get the idea. This is how I make my living, so if I can resell it for a profit, I'll buy it. So if you're looking for something, be it a specific doll or a missing accessory, let me know and I'll keep my eyes open. :)

Cool! :) I'm looking for Little Pretties cats, especially the kittens. They were made in the late '80s, early '90s by Mattel as rivals to MLP. Ghost of the Doll has a Little Pretties page so you can see what they look like:

Little Pretty :: Picture Frame Pets [Ghost Of The Doll]

I'm specifically looking for Cherry Blossom (she's on that page) and Baby Buggy (a pink kitty with a heart symbol), though I'd be interested in any of the babies you might find (there are puppies, too). It'd be awesome if you found them. :) Good luck on your trip! It sounds fun.

I'm searching for Nightglider, a deflocked Twist, Gypsy, TAF Buttons, or a German Daffodil. Good luck pony hunting!

Other than ponies, I quest for anything Hamtaro, Digimon, Cardcaptors, Poochie, Moomin, Secret Saddle Wish Horses, Kimba the White Lion, Unico, Wreck-It Ralph and Care Bear related.

The Care Bears are mainly for my friend who is very specific about the generation of Care Bear she quests for. She really doesn't like the more recent gens.

thats a cool and fun thing to do :D
all the stuff I still need are the ponies in this wanting list:

I'm also looking for some old Pokemon Houses back in 2000 mostly looking for this Articuno and Chicorita mini house there very old and japanese so I don't think they can be found there but if with any luck you do I'd love to have them ;) :

good luck with your shopping it sounds very fun to do x)

Wow. I'm taking notes. All good stuff to look for! I will keep an eye out for all of these things.

This will be my life in the future -- shopping for toys and reselling them. I've made decent money in the past selling stuff as a side business, but it will be my full time job now. I'm excited. :)

I am looking for kenner shimmers MOC. I have a few love to complete set and MOC ponies.

I collect vintage Puppy in my Pocket. Their cards can be especially hard to find. Let me know if you find any, thanks!

Thanks for the comments. I'll print this whole thread out and take it with me.

My odds of finding MOC items is small, though not impossible. (Typically, if it's still on a card, the thrift stores charge more than what I could make a profit on.) What I'm more likely to find are TLC items, accessories, SHOES (my specialty), or the occasional deboxed but in excellent condition doll.

Ianthe99, the only My Child dolls I've seen have been priced very high by thrift stores that recognize their collectible value. Frustratingly, they seem to think vintage CPKs are valuable too, unless they're totally trashed. However, I find vintage CPK shoes and outfits all the time for reasonable prices.

I did score an American Girl Samantha for $2.50 at a Goodwill, though. She needed a bath, a few seams stitched up, and a bit of hair TLC, but that was easy enough to do. I sold her for $50 to a coworker (with a wardrobe of doll clothes thrown in that wasn't AG, but fit.) She wasn't in perfect condition, but she made my coworker's little girl very happy.

I'm still working out the exact ETA of the trip, but I'm thinking (if all goes well) probably the 20th through the 22nd.

It's a long shot but I'm looking for these. I won't take it unless it's MIB, hence the long shot:

Serial Experiments Lain Doll w/Guitar
Barbie World Inca Princess Doll
Sailor Uranus 11" Doll (Yellow Box)

Ponies I'm looking for (they don't need to be MIB):
G1 Bon Bon or any variant
G1 Seapony Tiny Bubbles
G3 Autumn Crisp
G3 Autumn Skye

Update: Pickings are pretty lean, though I have several more stores to hit. I have found:

A few modern Barbies, including several Mackie or Lea faced dolls that would be nice for OOAK projects. Nothing really stood out as unusual, just the Barbie equivalent of pony bait.

I did find some ponies:

1983 Applejack
1983 Moonstone
1987 Baby North Star

(Plus several bait-y G2 and G3 ponies and McD ponies that I'll add to my "bait bucket" until I have enough to fill a flat rate box, then sell.)

The ponies all need a bath. Baby North Star has some tail rust. All of them need a day at the spa to fix their hair, as they all had their hair (tails and manes) in buns, apparently put that way by the thrift store staff. *head desk* However, they're overall in nice condition. They'll be up in my eBay store after I get 'em cleaned up. (I usually don't find G1 ponies, so this was a nice surprise. I've got my gas covered now, anyway.)

Final update (for awhile) -- mostly ended up with lots of Barbies, including a Crystal Barbie, a Horse Loving Skipper, and a Dream Date Barbie.

I picked up a huge box of She-ra figures and accessories at a yard sale (who holds a yard sale on a Thursday? Anyway, SCORE!) with a wide, wide, variety of figures and their accessories, including a few rare figures, multiple horses, etc. I will list these on eBay eventually, once I get done cleaning them up and matching the accessories to the figures.

Found a nude Misfits Roxy with (possibly) cut hair -- I've seen the hair on this doll vary a lot, but hers is much shorter than is typical, so I'm guessing someone trimmed it. They did a decent job and I would consider her displayable, but she will go cheap -- I'd take $7 plus exact cost of shipping. (The body on this doll is in excellent condition.)

If anyone likes "older" dolls, I also picked up a 1950's Ideal Toni that needs a day at the hair salon -- she has her original wig, but it needs to be styled and/or replaced. One eyebrow is lighter than the other. Otherwise, she's in nice shape, tightly strung, and appears to have her original black rubber bands. (The wigs for these dolls can be purchased on eBay or from various vendors online.

And, I found a VERY nice Ideal Cinnamon -- that would be Crissy's friend Velvet's younger sister. Her hair color is awesome, her "grow hair" mechanism works smoothly, and she's currently on my wine rack drying as I've already cleaned her and detangled her hair. :)

Both Ideal dolls are nude, but I might have some shoes for them. Cinnamon will need about a week before I'm comfortable shipping her, as I want her to dry completely before boxing her up.

Have you ever come across any Battle Beasts? Those are hard to find! And those little neon dinosaurs? I forget what they are called. And I love any of the animals/creature from He-Man and She-Ra and stuff like that. :)

I'm searching for Gusty, Galaxy, and a SweetStuff.
Gusty is at the top of my list though!
Thank you so much c: Hope you have a fun time!
