Thinking of getting started on collecting g1s although I'm starting to see that the price worth of them have declined over the years . I'm looking for opinions, is it too late to start now? Don't have tons of money to put into, although wanted to collect for nostalgia reasons, then eventually sell. Any thoughts or advice!?!?!

Prices fluctuate often and at different times through the year. If you're interested and enjoy collecting ponies I say go for it. If you're only planning on doing it to hopefully sell your collection in several years and make a good profit, I'd think on it some more. There is no guarantee what the value or market may be like in the future. Over the 15ish years I've been actively collecting I've probably spent thousands and I could probably sell my collection for more than I put into it but I don't know that I'd be looking at a huge profit. I collect because it makes me happy not because I see it as an investment and at this point I don't ever see me selling unless I get to the point where they no longer bring me joy, so it's just something I'm spending money on as a hobby. You could always start out with some less expensive ones and see how it goes.

That's actually very good advise, I started looking into bc I needed money to get out a bad relationship and didn't want to use the little that I had to buy toys lol. Although since I've started and I've been looking thru the ponies, trying to identify which one I have, trying to find value or just searching for them in general has really made me happier than I've been since I was a kid. I think I'm going to do it. I've asked a friend to go in with me on it, still debating if that is a good idea

Gingerbread gave good advice. Pony collecting isn't really that profitable. If you like it, go for it! Investing ponies, nope don't do it :p

Thank you ladies for your advice. While I am looking to profit, I may try other items but I've noticed that the nostalgia is bringing great emotions and I don't want to sell them. Although would like to know best way to clean them up, is there any way to get marker off of them?

Welcome to the TP! Try regular soap and water first, and use conditioner on the hair. I like to wrap the hair around a pony leg or neck to give it a nice curl as it dries. Bobbie pins work great to keep it in place until it sets. You can try a magic eraser (anywhere but the eyes and symbols as you might rub these off) to get rid of marks, but sunfading might be better. I've never tried sunfading, but I know there are others around here who may be able to give you a tutorial.
