Hello ! Yesterday at the flea market I found a ‘My Pretty Pony’ in pretty great shape! But she definitely needs to be cleaned. She has, however, quite large gaps in her plastic for her hair to come through that would make it quite easy for water to come inside. Does anyone have any ideas or techniques that would allow me to wash her mane and tail without getting water inside or at least jeeping it super minimal? I’m always careful but I’ve still gotten water in G3s from washing the tail.

Additionally, I purchased some ‘self stay curlurs’ for help making the hair nice and curly again. Someone said to me this might damage the nylon but I had never heard that before, does anybody know for sure? Are these safe to use on pony hair?

Wow, cool find!
I don’t have a MPP myself, so all I could recommend you is to put a paper towel in or the closest you can to the gap to catch most of the water.
Self-stay curlers? Do you mean the ones with the spikes? They will probably pull at the hair. The “smooth” curlers (the ones without the spikes but still have the piece that holds the hair) are perfect for pony styling. You can also use plastic straws and bobby pins for curls :)

What @twishy said.

She’s best to wash upside down and leave her upside down to dry. Both that I’ve restored I did that way and they both came out beautifully. Just remember that her hair is different from traditional MLP and may need a bit longer of a soak in conditioner and a good hot water rinse after. ;)
