Well after months of a boot and bone stimulator the doctor today told me its not healing.
So I have two option Surgery with a 12 week recover y and a screw in my foot. Or do nothing and live within.
I worry that it will get worse without the surgery its still sore and walking to much does hurt.
But 12 weeks of being bed ridden and home bound just make me sick.
I had a panic attack in the doctor office too, The one time I don't have a person to come with me and freak out in the doctor office.

Iono what to do at this point.

Get yourself a piece of paper. Draw a line down the center. On the right side write "pro's" and on the left side of the line write, "cons". Then write down all you can think of that is a pro for surgery and a con. It will help you make a decision. Look into your future as far as what kind of problem you could have down the road as well by not having surgery. If this is not helpful just ignore me. I had to do this with my neck surgery. It helped me make a decision about my neck surgery. I just am not sure exactly what helps you think through stuff. So, I posted what I do. By no means do you hafta.:p Sorry about your having to face this kind of thing.:(

I am not emotional mess anymore so I will try that. When I freak out it take a long time to come off that and I am sorry if the last freak out was rude. I should not have done that I was just so upset and freaked out. I am my own worst enemy.

Oooh, ouch, I am so sorry to hear that. :(

Surgery sounds like the better option, to me, personally. That is a long recovery time, yes... but at least it will be healing, then, and the pain should go away. I get that it's a big, tough decision to make, though. A lot of factors to consider. [offers hugs] Whatever choice you make, I hope things work out for you.

Awww Ology! You poor dear! *BIG HUGS* I also had a broken foot, not as bad as yours was, but broken a few years back and it was miserable! So you must feel awful with it! It totally keeps you from moving around and you are bedridden or stuck barely getting around for months! I was in a wheelchair for a few months and crutches and then a boot... it sucked! I know you probably don't want to hear this, because I sure didn't when I had my broken foot, but... you really need to trust your doctors. If you're hoping that this one doc is wrong, you can always get a second opinion! But sweetie, if the second doc agrees with the first one, you really should consider getting the surgery. Just so you can heal completely and be back on your feet again. You want to be able to move around without a bunch of pain for the rest of your life and if this surgery is necessary then you need to do that to get there.

BUT, get a second opinion if you're hesitant. It's always easier to trust two doctors that agree than just one doctor who could be exaggerating the problem. I wish you the best and hope you heal very fast! Also, the human body has an amazing capacity to heal itself, so I don't know what your diet is like but by eating food high in the types of nutrition that bones are made of will help your body rebuild the broken bone faster. A diet high in calcium and iron and vitamin C will help you to heal much faster than one that is depleted of those nutrients!

Wishing you the best! *HUGS*

Nah you're perfectly normal in your reaction! I had the same one when I was in a similar situation. I hate getting surgery and it can cause so many side effects I'm terrified of dealing with. So if you can avoid surgery if it is not necessary, then of course it makes sense to do that. No one wants to go get surgery! Everyone is apprehensive before they go under the knife! So your feelings are COMPLETELY justified!

Did they say how long it'll take to heal on its own?

My doctor got worried at one point that mine wasn't healing and wanted to do the bone stimulator shot, but by the time my insurance approved it, my foot started healing more.

Mine still has 13 more months until fully healed

So maybe go through with the surgery cause 12 weeks isn't 2 years lol

And who knows, if they have to ask insurance 3 times if you can get the surgery maybe your foot will heal more by that time and the surgery will no longer be necessary.

Either way I think foot healing is going to take months but those months do pass.

Its in a place where the foot bends when you walk so healing on its on is very very hard. My machine to stimulate growth has help some but not enough. I also have a very bad calcium deficiency so my bones heal slow any way. I have to take 3 horse pill size calcium pills a day and I drink lots of milk which is fine as I love milk. We both are worried about arthritis getting into the break I developed it when I was 10 and its spread ever sense its not super bad but it does act up ever so often and it is painful.

I may do the surgery as I don't wan the break to worsen or possible break again. 12 week will suck but Ill paint ponies or something.
maybe I can borrow a Xbox 1 and get the Mass effect Trilogy and Andromeda games to play. I been watching that on Twitch and Youtube and holy cow I in love with that game set.

Definitely sounds like looking into the surgery isn't a bad idea for you.

Make sure drink loooooots of water with those pills, cause I ended up passing a kidney stone last summer because of my calcium pills x.x I freaked out and stopped taking them lol. But I think you might be okay if you drink lots of water with it.

My break is more towards the back left side of my foot, so there wasn't a big scare about it rebreaking that easily, which makes me think the surgery sounds like a shoe-in for you.

Now I have a little more freedom in mobility after physical therapy, but I can't walk too much or too far still or I get pain.

Xbox sounds like it'll help a lot. My husband got me a new Animal Crossing game for my 3ds during my first months of my injury, and I just let myself get sucked into that lol

I beat the game after a month + a couple weeks of playing it though :( wished it lasted longer. I like games I can spend 6 months + over a year playing...
