Oh...It has been such a long time since I have paid visit to this magical site so I really hope I am posting in the correct area but I could not think of another one nor could I find any info anywhere else. I would post in the wanting to buy but I actually at the moment would just like to learn the name of them...

Does anyone know what the really, really big variety of MLPs are called? By big I mean about a foot tall or somewhere around there...maybe nine inches. One time I saw a little kid carrying one around and I was so enchanted by it and I. Want. One. But sadly, I cannot figure out what this rather enormous variety is called Does anyone know? I doubt they are made anymore.

If you're speaking of the recent generations of MLPS, then I think you're referring to styling ponies. this is a G3 (and my personal favorite, on my pony shelf) there are also a couple others,a Pinkie Pie and a Rainbow Dash, as well as another unicorn and a color-changing pegasus. There are also some big-headed g3.5s on the shelves right now. I too was charmed by them and bought one for myself, and one for a little 3 year old neighbor whose eyes got GIANT when she saw mine. As for finding yourself one of these lovelies, I suggest Ebay ('styling my little pony' will get you some results, so will 'large my little pony')

hope that helps!

Oh thank you so much!! I appreciate it a lot. I thought maybe that is what they were called but I could never figure out a clear answer. I may have found one (one of the only ones with the name "Styling pony" under a hundred dollars so I emailed the lady running the auction to ask her for measurements as her descriptions were extremely vague.
Do you happen to know if these can be rehaired and customized the same way the little ones can?

Yes they can. They take a TON of hair and the heads can be quite the beast to remove, but it is possible =)
I would recommend NOT customizing Styling Cheerilee though. She's sorta uncommon and sought after. Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity (and if you're brave enough, Star Catcher) are all free game though <3

Hi there! :) I thought at first you may have been talking about My Pretty Pony:
Where the Rainbow Ends ~My Little Pony~

But if it's a more recent version then yes, it's a Styling pony. They've been released in the past few years, and really aren't too terribly hard to find.

These are most of the different Styling ponies first made:
Where the Rainbow Ends ~My Little Pony~

As well as Star Catcher:
Where the Rainbow Ends ~My Little Pony~

And the newest incarnation of the Styling pony:
Where the Rainbow Ends ~My Little Pony~
Where the Rainbow Ends ~My Little Pony~

I would suggest posting here in the Want to Buy section of the forum--I imagine plenty of people have them for sale at reasonable prices. I've found at least 7 or 8 in thrift stores just in this past year! ;)

Good luck!

Nine inches is exactly around the size of a G1 Soft & Sleepy Newborn. Most people didn't even realize they were MLPs.

Their eyes open and close & they came with these adorable clothes and pacifier.

Also, a good way to get these ponies for less-astromical prices on ebay is to look under pretty vague search terms. I've used the terms 'huge pony toy' or 'large my little pony' or other such things, rather than using their 'given' name. I find that people who use their given 'styling pony' want to get more for them as collectibles, whereas if you try a different approach you're more likely to find a mom who wants to part with their kids toys that they've outgrown. Just a thought. Also, your local thrift stores and fleamarkets might be a good bet. Styling ponies are about nine inches tall. I've seen them for as little as two or three dollars, it just depends on how quickly the seller wants to part with them.

Wonderful! That will be a good and fun challenge to keep me busy and cozy this Winter! Thank you for letting me know about the rare ones too. That explains the huge price tags I found on those ones in auctions.

Wow those are almost too cute but I really love them and they are so precious and stubby! I might have to seek one of those out in the future if at all possible....

That is such a great idea! You know your pony shopping. Thank you!

On the topic of giant ponies, I bought a giant g3 "sing and dance pinkie pie" once and sold it on ebay. I thought it was pretty cute, but not cute enough for the room she took up lol.

This page has a list of all the G3 and G3.5 ones out there... I seem to recall that the new G4s will also have some in "Styling" size...

Oh Awesome! I get confused on the generation numbers. I used to know them better but I cannot remember anything and it has been awhile since I took any of this seriously. Are the G4s the new kind with the amazingly large heads?

I understand that. I do not have my own place yet and so sadly I fear a lot of the large ones I have suddenly found myself purchasing since I made this topic are going to have to go into storage for a short bit till I get out of here.

The G4 Styling ponies actually aren't out until sometime next year. They're based off the ponies in the new cartoon called MLP Friendship is Magic. My siggy pic is in the G4 style. They don't have too big of heads, but they have big eyes and tiny mouths. The ones with the giant heads are the G3.5s.
