Well this is my first real attmept at painting a flutter pony. The pony itself was coloured with artist pen. the wings and letters are made of clay and have glitter over them (camera didn't really show that well).

I'm not sure if it needs something for or if it's good just like that lol.

please let me know what you think.

Oh thanks for responding! i was begining to think no one would again :? glad you like her, the glitter was fun, it's still all over my kitchen LOL

They look great!
But dont be afraid to completely paint in your background firt. then paint in your middle and forground on top of it.

It may take a few coats of a base color ontop of the background but it certainly is easier then trying to painsteakingly paint around your figure.

Once i got over that things came so much easier and looked much cleaner.
Heck if its a dark pony a coat of Geso is usualy opaque enough to handle it and from there you easily paint in your figure or details.

Thanx poniesyeah :)

the only problem with that is i NEVER know what i'm painting on my background until i do the pony LOL i guess i should plan better LOL

Yeah that is still one of my bigest ongoing struggles. I get excited and want to jump straight to the figure. But for me that is where photo shop comes in handy. its still hard to exert a bit of control and draw it out several times and rough paint it several more times in PS to find the BEST outcome.

I have found it best to sketch out the first "pop in mind" thought then walk away for a night or draw it several times over at different angles.

The hill this helps to over come is that the VERY first image that POPS in your mind out of nowhere is typicaly the most generic. By letting it stew a bit longer your more likely to comout with something more interesting.

So yeah planing is the key.
I have a couple of painting ideas that have been kicking around for YEARS. some of them I have dropped all togeather cause by time I revisit them the theam has manifested itself in another/better form somewhere else or ive simply out-grown the idea.

I think they look great Mavi! You're very talented! I really enjoy your work!

First time on the TP today, lol - kids have played on the PC mostly all day!

*M*

aww thanx MM *hugs* yeah it's hard to pry the kiddies away from the shiney screen. heck it's hard to pry me away i've been on for 3 hours and it's 3am

re

i think both of them look cute! i especially love desert rose's pose, she just looks so adorable and looks like a baby. good job on them!

Ooh Mavi, I think they look beautiful! I really like how you drew the eyes.. So big and pouty. If that Desert Rose were a dog, I wouldn't be able to resist giving her scraps, haha. ;D

Lovely. :)

Oh baby Paradise! i haven't seen you in forever! *hugs*
