I have a sweet tooth. I'm not sure that's why,but I've always been a bug magnet. Yesterday Evelyn had a friend over all day. By the time she went home and I could get outside to do 20 minutes of yard work it was dusk. I woke up at 3 am with no less than 7 bites.

Happy Easter to me
I taste so darn sweet
Now I itch all over
'Cause the bugs had a feast.

Get some Off! Or light some of citronella candles.

I have this problem too when I go outside. Here are all your natural repellants: Catnip, lemongrass, spearmint, peppermint and like Whisper said, citronella. I love lemongrass. It is spring now. Every bug on the planet is having a dating fest. They are procreating faster than dust bunnies. By summer we will have a swarm of killer bugs ...poor earth it is doomed. Tee hee

I don't handle being outside in the dark well with my hallucinations, so I'm usually indoors before they come out. The sky was gorgeous btw. I do have a spot I've been wanting to plant something simple and lemongrass would probably love it there. I love spearmint. Could it be in some sort of spray @tulagirl ? Unfortunately, @Leave a Whisper I'm not allowed to have open flames of any sort except in the case of a prolonged power outage. I have proven to be too accident prone.
I don't even have a grill. :(
Oh, and I'd rather itch than use off  we used it when I was a kid and the result was, nobody else got bitten, but i got even more. Through my jeans! I was also told once to eat more garlic and b12... to no avail.

Thanks for some ideas! I wonder if off would give Evelyn a terrible rash...

I'm the same and I'm not big on sweets so I can't think it matters. I get eaten up whenever I go outside in the summer, it's awful! I want to plant some mosquito repelling plants around the yard as well, I heard marigolds are also good for that. I do use Avon's bug stuff, it comes in wipes which I just find handy and usually carry in my purse but I heard their regular Skin So Soft oil is a natural repellent? I don't think I ever tried it though.

Through your jeans?! :shock:Are the mosquitos in your area from the freaking Cretacious Era?

It's nice to know I'm not alone. I have tried the skin so soft and it gave me a rash. Kinda oily, too. The sensitive skin issue, really compounds the problem.

I know, right? Through wranglers, Levi's, and carhatt's. I don't like to admit it, but i tuck them into my socks, too. Evelyn didn't get any!

My poopsie is apparently especially delicious to bugs. When the family is outside, the bugs go after her instead of us. Which (being totally mercenary) saves mah hide. Hah! I even tell the biters, "Eat her! She tastes likes strawberries! I am poop flavored!" :D

I have the same problem. The outdoors hates me and I don't like it very much :/ Though it is a problem when you have children they want to be outside. I just over cover myself with bug spray I always put alot on in summer. Between the suntan lotion, bug spray and sweating its a fun time. I do really like summer I just don't like our outdoor pests.

As long as it's full light we don't have many bitey insects. Ticks if you go through deep brush, but we're all allergic enough to grasses that we stay on the trails. I also believe in staying on the trails to preserve our beautiful state.

This is why I want to have a bubble I can walk around in or one reason I never leave my house. If I did not have chick babies and a dog to care for I would never go outside during spring and summer I HATE SPRING AND SUMMER IN THE SOUTH. Now back to normal talking.

You should move north @Ology ! Nice temperate weather. ;)

I will one day be moving to north Carolina or south Carolina not sure which @Tak

I figure every state and country has their own unique set of pests and critters. Nature sees us as an all you can eat buffet, which is only fair considering how many critters we eat! :D

I think im too sweet at times :p thats why they go after me. they dont go after my MIL I don't think they want to be poisoned JK :p

Too true. Though I mainly stick to farm raised chicken and beef... no wild game.

I tried wild game once or twice and I had a upset stomach.

Same here. I tried deer once and it didn't want to stay down. Didn't really taste good either.
