I'd say: Look at Bella Sara. They use fantasy equines as well and got by just fine, although the art styles were different. I'd say your fine and your designs are more akin to Bella if anything.
I think your desins are different enough...and I love your logo, too.
Are they inspired by Clydesdales? I have a soft spot for draft horses.
Compared to other fakie mlp companies, I say you're good as gold
Thank You Kindly here is the old and new look...
before It looked too generic and like Hasbro way of things, it lacked style and originality, so I decided to do someting Way Different..
Looking at the old and new which one totally stand out to you ?

My Favourite G1 Toy has always been the Big Brother, Mountain Boys, and Baby Brothers.
The reason Because they Reminded me so Much of The Clydesdale Horses look... Not the Same however the closest we will ever get...
Personally I loved watching the MLP FIM TV series with my Kids, however Did not Like the Style of the Toys. They looked like clones of one another... Granted not all characters in the show were clones, some were different, however even the main cast and bulk of characters were clones from each other..
I'm just tired of people calling my Creations MLP Rip offs..
Do you think I should still pay a IP lawyer, just to get those people off my back... Or not bother with the extra cost and put it else where. ?
Or I should just show them the before and after look to clarify things..?
Thank You all, for you advice and guidance.

The new ones, they definitely have more style and flair.
Can't blame you for embracing the big bro Clydesdale look, seems like Hasbro touches on those types of idea but produces so few and their toylines are drowning in a sea of estrogen lol
I'm clueless about the IP stuff to be honest. You can if you want so people can't copy you
I hate that feeling too about people calling art unoriginal. People try calling my art "base edits". It's maddening
Maddening enough for me to try and buy a 3-D printer some day to attempt to make my own pony bases and be like "booyah! What now?"
I also don’t know much about the whole IP thing. But I think if your really promoting it a lot with in the pony community you are going to get that kind of feed back.
As an artist myself, I can see the inspiration of your artist’s designs of the G3/G4 mash up. And when your trying to draw cutesie ponies with any kind of markings it is VERY hard to get away from the MLP stigma. Remember MLP is a brand that 3 generations of women and men have grown up with, seeing these designs will bring back the nostalgic memories to us.
But I feel your ideas and back stories will set you apart from the MLP stigma. I wouldn’t worry too much of trying to impress a few. Show the masses what you have to offer, show them your characters and stories and ideas. That’s what people fall in love with.
Hasbro created MLP toys AND a show to sell the toys. Kids want toys of their favourite cartoon characters. Back in the day it was affordable for companies to make a 20min “poorly” animated show to ouch product. Advertisement in broadcasting. Now, we relie on social media platforms. Same thing but reaches around the world at half the cost.
