Today I opened up my pony bin (I don't have anywhere to display them atm) and saw my favorite Glitterbelle had lost some of her glitter in her hind quaters! Is there any way I can prevent further glitter loss in her and my other divine shine ponies? Why does this happen? She was in a tub in a plastic bag for a few months.

Hi @Philly Are they sticky also? Those commonly can suffer from what is known as "Plasticiser loss" There was a thread a little while back about how to look after and store them to avoid these type of issues.

Time to check your divine shine ponies

Divine shines are beautiful ponies, Hopefully they will be able to withstand the years ahead :)

She is very, very slightly sticky. Now I'm worried about my Secret Wish whom I can't find atm. What should I do to prevent further decay? Would washing her up every few months help?
Also I have a Tangerine Twinkle MIB, will she be OK on her own?

Ok everyone... DO NOT WORRY!

This is the same condition my G2 Hip Holly had. Those that have her fresh from card remember she smelled terrible and was really gooey. I just washed her probably once a week (since my daughter would pick her up often), and it progressively got better and better and stopped happening all together. I don't know how long the process took but my Hip Holly hasn't needed to be cleaned in over 6 years now so I think it's very safe to say she will be fine forever. She has been stored for up to a year in archival tissue paper but has also spent most of her years out on a shelf somewhere in our central air/heating home.

There has been no deterioration in color or transparency. She has not become any more hard than any of my other G2s and certainly not brittle.

@Lil Alley Cat post may be of help in what to do, I really do think storage will have alot to do with it too. The glitter loss, and stickyness has to do with the break down of the plastic internally. Some also become opaque as is the case also with G1 Sparkle ponies. Over time they can also become brittle and hard as a rock. You will also find alot of variation in colours of these also due to the same problem.

Sadly this also happens to those that are MIB. I recall reading some time back where a member deboxed one and it too was sticky.

The advise is to keep washing them, I hope that helps for you.

Thank you very much! Hopefully my MIB one will be alright!

I have this problem with my Kimono and G2 Queen Sunsparkle, and I think original Scootaloo, for some reason? It's between her legs - Anyway, with the first two I know it's a very common problem, and seeing this topic reminded me I should really give them a thorough wash whenever I get the chance. I guess it's the best anyone can do, besides making sure the ponies are in a place that's well ventilated. Like someone said, I'd rather them be hard and brittle than sticky and gross.
